On December 12, 2023, I went to Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic to see a psychiatrist for a prescription to treat my ADHD. I checked with my insurance that there were a handful doctors at the clinic that accepted it. I had called Parkside and asked if one of the doctors was available and that I had a letter from my therapist and only needed the psychiatrist for prescribing medicine. However, the person that I saw on the 12th was a therapist and could not prescribe medicine and was not the person I thought I would be seeing. I told them about the error, paid for the service anyway, and rescheduled for another for January 9th, 2024. On Jan 9th I received the service from a psychiatrist as I previously requested. However, when I received the bill, I saw that I was given a doctor that was out-of-network and charged an additional $198.08 on top of the $87.92 I had already paid. I called multiple times over the course of 2 months, but they refused to compromise on the issue even thought they had charged me already for a service I did not ask for and gave me an out-of-network doctor after already having my insurance and my specific request for a doctor in-network. I am requesting Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic adjust my Jan 9th bill to an in-network charge and a full refund of my Dec 12th visit short of a total refund of both visits.Business response

Documentation of the complaint referenced was received 4/1/2024, investigated and subsequently resolved with the customer on 4/11/2024 to his full satisfaction
This individual requested services and was scheduled to be seen by two providers in the outpatient department. One of the providers was relatively new to the group and had not fully completed credentialing with the individuals private insurance company at the time. Unfortunately, this resulted in the individual being seen by an out-of-network physician. This was an unintentional error as it is not the practice of this organization to schedule out of network.
We have contacted the individual, explained and apologized for the scheduling occurrence. The complainant cited amounts allowable by the insurance carrier that were his responsibility. He also reported having paid a portion of the amounts due.
It was regrettable that the customer was unhappy with the experience and upon learning of this, immediate action was taken with the goal of resolving the situation. The customers disputed amount contained a factual error and this was discussed along with the whole of the customers experience. It was agreed to refund the full amounts paid by the customer and he stated that this completely resolved his complaint.Customer response
