I'm a 74 yr old lady on ss. Still work. Got a Reverse mortgage to buy car at JimGlover. Pd $18,477.00 on May 9 2024. They have 7 day xchg program. On 8th day my CEL came on. Had diognostic done, showed engine problems. I went to Glover asked to xchg. They said NO, was 8th day. *** mgr said inspection they did showed flags but thought weren't related. I think they knew had a bad engine and put it on the lot as-is anyway. I believe that's fraud because they were aware. Used ************** said when you pay that much you should have a reasonable expectation that it should run like an $18,477 car. Engine should NOT be bad in 8 days. Spoke to mgr ***********************, said "unfortunate ". He could give me $7,000 trade and maybe finance another car. I can't afford a car pmt or an $8,000 engine.I emailed ******* and *****, no response. You cant talk to them. I barely got to talk to Gen *** *********************. He said he and ***** working on it. That was mon Aug 5. Today Aug 9, haven't heard a word. He said maybe they could take to auction for me to possibly recoup "some money". I can't throw away over $18,000. I'm poor or I wouldn't still work. Last week I was hospitalized due to hi ** and heart rate. Stroke level because I've been dealing with this 3 months. Have to find rides anywhere and to work. They knew this car had engine issues and sold it anyway and they're protected by as-is. Thus isn't morally or ethically right. Consumers should have protection against this. I bought a warranty but there was a 30day 1,000 wait time. I only had car 8 days. Also, when the salesman showed me car told me $17,000. When he manually wrote paper price was $17,500. Computer printout showed $17,989. I thought was maybe tax. When I asked Gen *** ***** about price his answer was " slsmen don't know actual price. It's in the computer" so when you ask the price, you're being given wrong info. I'd like that money back. He wrote up $17,500. I'd like the $489 refunded. Please help me. I purchased a brand new 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer from this dealership on July 22, 2022. I called and spoke to a guy named Marty before I drove up there to see the car. He confirmed with me over the phone that the car was priced at $29,000. I went there and test drove the car, and he confirmed again that the car was $29,000 and then showed me to price sticker on the vehicle to confirm it as well. After being at the dealership for a couple of hours, Marty brought me a form to sing stating that it was the offer form, and that I needed to sign it, and then I would be able to go do the financing. I signed the paper as requested. After signing it, I noticed that the price of the car was no longer $29,000 as I was told, but was now priced at $36,000. I asked Marty about this, and he said that Jim ****** himself has them do that as a way to help reduce people coming from out of state to purchase the vehicles due to the global shortage of cars. I've talked to a few car salesmen that I know, and have been told that this is not a thing that is done, and that he was more than likely trying to get extra money since the vehicle I was trading in was priced higher then the car I was buying.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/12/20) */ To whom it may concern, Over the course of 2022 based on the universal inventory shortage nationwide, certain models were in very high demand because of the incredibly low supply. Even certain pre-owned models were bringing thousands over MSRP of a brand new one in the same model. We are a full disclosure dealership and we fully disclose numbers numerous times throughout the car buying process including during negotiation, after negotiation, and again in the business office. At which time the documents are agreed and signed off on by the customer. I have attached several of **** ********'s documents below showing the same disclosure of numbers throughout his process with us. Mr. ********'s complaint is that he paid over MSRP. At the time of his purchase we likely could have sold the vehicle he purchased to another dealer for $5,000 over MSRP because dealers just couldn't get them due to the inventory shortage. We do not feel that it is fair or valid for him to expect a refund given the worldwide shortage of vehicles and his full understanding of our pricing before he decided to purchase. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/12/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The only thing that was disclosed to me about the price of the car during the whole car buying experience was that the car was to be priced at $29,000. Nothing was mentioned to me about the price being driven up until after I had signed a form. After signing the form is when I saw the price hike and asked about it. When I asked about why the price changed is when I was given a reason. The salesman didn't sound very confident in his reasoning as to why the price all of a sudden went up. Had I not asked about it, nothing would have been told to me about it at all.
