I purchased a storm shelter to include installation from this company. Everything was great until the installation was completed. The storm shelter leaks and theyve been out to repair it once. I contacted them again to tell them they didnt repair all of the lakes and that the storm shelter, still leaks and has water standing in the bottom of it and they have promised repair, but have not been out to do the promised repair. So Im stuck with a leaky storm shelter and will have to stand in water, if a tornado does come. Im extremely dissatisfied with their service after placement of the storm shelter. Im asking that they either repair the leaks that are currently in there so it doesnt leak anymore or that they replace it with a new shelter that doesnt have the leaks to begin with. Its extremely disappointing that a brand new shelter is unusable. That was a major chunk of money for me to be investing and have it not usable is extremely frustrating. Thank you for your assistance in resolving this complaint.Business response

We had a underground storm shelter installed in our garage by F5 storm shelters. There were multiple issues during the installation consisting of their equipment breaking down causing the installation to take longer. When the installation was complete, I asked the workers why the shelter was sticking out of the ground and not flush with the floor. They stated "you are not going to get it flush with the ground. Because you have a water heater in the garage, if it flooded it would come into the shelter so it is illegal to have it flush when there is a water heater near it". I called the owner and he said he would come and look at it. He never showed up and I have attempted to call him and left voicemails multiple times which he does not return. This has created a tripping hazard in my garage and I am not even sure that it meets FEMA standards like it is supposed to due to how it has been installed. I was not aware I could report it to BBB otherwise I would have done it sooner.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/17) */ 1. I have an email exchange with the customer showing that we had to reschedule the install because of rain. That's out of my control. 2. When the shelter is installed by or near a water heater, the shelter has to be raised higher. It's a safety issue because the water heater could leak and flood the shelter. Very dangerous. This is not covered in the warranty and neither is shelter replacement 3. Even if this was covered in our warranty, this shelter was installed 2.5 years ago and the warranty is for one year. The customer was sent our contract for review when they got scheduled. 4. The customer said they just reached out recently about this. Obviously the warranty wouldn't cover this but if I failed to answer a call, I apologize. April and May is my busiest time of the year. We get hundreds of calls a day. I do my best to get back with everybody but it can be difficult. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/05/19) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) 1. I also have the email exchange. The install was rescheduled due to the rain. However the install was not complete until the beginning of April 2020 due to the contractors equipment breaking down in the middle of the install. I was offered a discount on the later added expense of rubble for this. 2. The shelter is already raised out of the ground to avoid flooding. However the metal lid is also over an inch out of the ground which is what the issue is. This is not normal and should not be sticking out of the ground and creating a tripping hazard in my home. For reference I have a family member who had a shelter installed by the same company and they have a water heater near it. It is also slightly raised, however the metal part of the shelter is flush with the ground as it should be. 3. If the business had come to look at the shelter as scheduled straight after it was done, it would have been covered under warranty. However, the owner did not show up after arranging to do so. Like they said in their reply, they probably did not have time due to that time of year being very busy for them. 4. I did not just recently reach out to the business. I did this immediately after the shelter was installed. The owner arranged to come out to look but never showed up. Multiple attempts were made to contact him within the year with no response. I recently contacted the BBB about this issue because I was not aware that it was an option. I also left a review not so long ago where I also complained about this issue. The owner left his number on the review and I have called that number and left 2 voicemails with no reply. (please see attached)
