My sons car was towed from a public road in the middle of the night, for expired tags. His tags actually were not expired. He had to go to the *** to get new stickers because his tags were missing and He was forced to pay $350 to get his car back. Then the old guy in the tow yard had the audacity to make a comment that wasnt hard now was it to my son. His registration was up to date ********* *** was confused why his car was towed. We called the Washington ********************** and they said they dont tow for expired tags. Ever. They would have run plates to double check and then issued a warning. They had no record of any ticket being issued either. This is a complete scam. Will be filing a complaint with the ************************** as well as the ******************** I dont understand how this is not grand theft auto.Business response

I researched all tows for a *************************. I do not see where we towed your vehicle.
Are you sure you have the correct tow company as there are several that go by the Pro Tow name.
Also if you have and Invoice I can look up the data based on that.
Thanks
Rich

4/15/24 I was visiting a friend at their home at ****************** in *********. My friend said I needed to make sure I parked in a clearly labeled "Visitor" parking stall. I was not notified of any secondary permit required. Pro Tow stole my vehicle during my visit to *********. When I called the company one of the drivers said ****************** This same company also towed a vehicle that was owned by someone who actually lived at the apartments. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, they kept telling me it was different amounts of money to get my vehicle out of the tow yard. 2 drivers told me $500 and the office lady said it was $455. THIS WAS MY LAST $500 to get me to pay day. When I tried to pay the receptionist claimed it was a cash only transaction. I then had to walk several blocks to the nearest ATM in a part of town that is unsafe. Then walk back with $500 cash in my pocket. I threw my receipt away out of anger but I know the company has a copy. This is exortion by the tow company, stealing cars in the middle of the night from unsuspecting victims visiting the ********* area. I will not be returning to this city. As a result of all of this, I was late to work and couldn't afford food until I got paid again.Business response

We are sorry about the inconvenience but our contract shows you have to have a visitor parking permit, your vehicle did not have a permit and that is why you were towed. We do not steal cars, we do however patrol on the request / requirements of the apartment complex to keep their parking available to their tenants. I spoke with my driver and listened to the audio recordings. there is no language in the recording that you represent above, the driver did explain the process of getting the vehicle release include the aspect of cash only for payment. The rates do change based on if you pick up the vehicle during business hours or after business hours or if you pick the vehicle up on a later date.
I am sorry you had this experience, but we did perform the services that our customer ask us to do.
