On 03/08/2024 I brought to Beaverton Auto Upholstery a replacement convertible top, made of German fabric, laser-cut and sewn in the *** (which I had bought from ************), with the intention to have it installed by Beaverton Auto Upholstery professionals.However, *************************, Owner/General Manager, advised me that he was only sure that the convertible top, procured by him, would be a much better choice, since the one I had brought might not fit well. He informed me that the top material would cost about $700 and labor bill would be about $1200.00. Considering that labor cost quote, I decided not to take chances and follow *****'s advice. I paid $700 deposit.****** top was installed on April *****. Upon delivery ****** son ***************************, the Production Manager, advised me not to stow down the top for 2 weeks to let it settle. I did not understand, what settle meant, because after the original car assembly at the ********Benz factory in *********, ******* tops had been stowed and metal hard tops had been mounted.On 04/23/2024 great sunny weather tempted me to drive with the convertible top down. Alas, having followed the factory manual I could not stow the top down. I went to Beaverton Auto Upholstery to ask them how to put their top down and also to fix some botched fabric wrinkling.I drove with the top down, but when I had come home, I was not able to put the top up, having tried for an hour. I also noticed that some components were cheap aftermarket.On 04/24/2024 I went to Beaverton Auto Upholstery with a request for them to fix the problems.I was received with a refusal, that ************************* shouted at me. When I said that it was unwise to raise a voice against a paying customer, ****** son ***************************, the Production Manager, screamed at me on top of his lungs for disrespecting his father.*****, ****** and 2 other employees came against me at the parking lot. ***** threatened to hurt me if I came close to my own car when they were forcing to raise the convertible top.I ended up, spending $1779.00 for an unworking convertible top. I am seeking a complete refund for the botched job and abusive treatment.Business response

****************** received preferential treatment for the scheduling and completion of his convertible top installation his MBZ SL. The top is top quality and the installation was completed to industry standards. He inspected and accepted the the car after installation and then a few days later came back to resolve a couple of small issues. Each issue was resolved within minutes on-the-spot. Then the next day he returned again with issues that we not part of our installation. We tried regardless to accommodate him again, but started to harass our technicians and was becoming abusive. We finally had to draw the line and ask him to leave. We did all we could to be reasonable.Business response

To address each detail:
First, ****************** showed up each time without an appointment or even calling ahead. He demanded we drop everything and tend to his needs. Which we did.
1) Originally, ****************** was informed that since we never heard of the supplier (Diamond Mall) we could not comment on the quality or construction and that we would install his top at his own risk and the results could not be predicted. We recommended installing a top from a supplier we knew and trusted and if there was an issue we would have recourse to resolve.
2) By his own admission ****************** was warned to open his top for at least two weeks. Convertible tops are designed to installed tight and then allowed to "stretch" (not settle). Prematurely opening a top will make the closed difficult.
3) On second visit, my shop manager and other technician was trying to resolve a non-installation issue as a courtesy, but when ****************** as asked repeatedly to back away and allow them to work...he couldn't help himself. He kept harassing them as they tried to work...tempers flared. I demanded that he remove himself from the situation.
4) The convertible top functions normally, but has few extra steps of folding until the top gets used to the way it should fold. We demonstrated this several times. He continued to be repetitive and unreasonable. That is when we called it "enough".

I am rejecting this response because:Beaverton Auto Upholsterys convertible top installation job is botched in multiple places. At the front driver's side corner, the fabric is warped. Between the fabric and sealing gasket there is an inch size hole. I stuck a red pencil through this hole to show that it is though the top. It is not possible to fix this big ugly wrinkle because inside the fabric there is hard glue - epoxy resin like substance. If I try to crack that hard resin under the fabric, I shall most definitely tear the fabric.
The convertible top seems shorter than it should be. If I fasten the two big mounting screws upfront,then the lower back fabric part on the rear bow, under the rear plastic window is popped up leaving an ugly gap. If I lower that back bow rear fabric lip,then I can not move the front bow forward enough for the 2 big fastening screws to reach their corresponding sockets,
The passenger side front upper corner has a s**** that is not original chromed, but a generic one taken from fasteners bin. Original s**** was lost.
There is 1 fabric strip on the vertical sides of the middle bow missing. When I pointed that to *************************, he told me to glue it myself. Even if the front upper drivers side corner was not messed beyond repair, then I paid $1,079.00 labor to fix the other botched areas myself?
The S**** you,customer: its good enough attitude at the ********************** is flagrantly outrageous.

More pictures: the passenger side front corner of the convertible top is messed up too - the rubber seal is separate from the front bow and just hangs.
