Prior to establishing services with this Dentist, I called and asked if they were in network with UMR. They said yes. I have had several procedures done with this dentist office and each time they quote me with a "provider discount" on my estimate. For this particular procedure (crown), they quoted me $457.91 after insurance claim and provider discount. I paid the $457.91 at the office once my crown procedure was complete. About a month after procedure, they send me a bill for $284.49 (which was a surprise to me. I called UMR to see what happened here and why that portion wasn't covered and they told me that ************************************* (Contemporary Family Dentistry) is not actually in network. So I immediately called the dentist office right after (5/21/24), and asked if they were in the UMR/Guardian network -- *** (whom I believe is a dental assistant) said they were. *** said she'd talk to their insurance planner and get back to me . Never did, about 2 weeks went by so I called them back (5/31/24) . *** had admitted to me that they made a mistake on my estimate and quoted me that discount with they had not actually had been apart of the UMR provider discount program, therefore I still owed that amount. Did not offer any solution to rectify the mistake, nothing. When I called my insurance provider UMR, they had no clue what "discount" program they were referring to, and unfortunately couldn't do anything about it and told me ********************** was out of network. As of today (6/6/24), I called Contemporary Dentistry again, and was told *** was busy with a patient and she'd get back to me as soon as possible. Now waiting on her call. Ultimately, had they been truthful in the beginning and truthful at the time of estimate about the "discount", I would not have established care with them nor would I have proceeded with the crown procedure. I would have gone to an in-network dentist. I want them to honor their estimate amount, and adjust my statement to a zero balance.
