I rented a room from the dunes motel on August 11th, 2021 and paid $163.54 for a room with a king size bed for one night, and gave them $200.00 cash for a deposit. When checking out the next day the owner/manager looked at the room, and said that because there was talcum powder on the floor( used on my husbands feet) that he was keeping the deposit. The manager stated he would not be able to rent the room that day, and would have to have the carpets cleaned. My husband attempted to talk with him, explaining to him that talcum powder does not damage carpets in anyway, that it can be removed with a vacuum. Witch is routine in cleaning a motel room. He even provided information on the internet that stated talcum powder is not only harmless, but actually aids in the cleaning of a carpet. He refused to give us our deposit back, and we notified him that we would lodge a formal complaint with the better business bureau for unethical business practice is he did not return our deposit.Business response
