On June 13th of this year, I bought a used ****** Outback from pacific motors LLC for a little over ten thousand dollars not including fees, warranties, and such. Two days later, after driving the car less than fifty miles, I took the car to a licensed ****** mechanic both to get a general checkup and because the check engine light had come on. While inspecting the car, the mechanic found numerous, devastating pieces of long term damage to the car, including but not limited to: a cracked catalytic converter, leaking power steering fluid, and wiring failures in the dashboard computer. My mechanic said that the extent of the damage not only made the car criminally unsafe to drive, but that its quite possible the dealer performed some kind of cover up in order get the car to pass ***. Its now almost a month later and I still dont have the plates, title, DMV or *** paperwork for the car, which the dealership initially told me should have arrived by now. The car is still in repairs, with repair estimates saying theyll likely come to almost eight thousand dollars. I attempted to contact the business in case this was an accident or ignorance on their part and was told that they did not care about the safety or legality of the car they sold and the minute I took the car they were absolved of all responsibility. Additionally when I mentioned the *** the dealership became much more aggressive and retaliated the phone call on social media. To whom it may concern,

It is stated that we do our best to make sure the car is in good condition before selling. Also, we let all our customers know very clearly and transparently about the terms and conditions of the sale, since it is possible that any unexpected maintenance item could come on used car at any point, this is just the nature of a used car with high miles. We encourage customer to please see all purchase documents which clearly mentions that this vehicle was strictly sold on As Is basis without any warranty and all these forms were signed by the customer after acknowledgment of the terms and conditions mentioned. We gave customer full opportunity to inspect, test drive and even take it to any mechanic of your choice to get an independent inspection done before the purchase and did not hide anything about the car and we follow the same protocol with any potential buyer.

Also we clearly mentioned & described at the time of sale, both in writing and verbally about the possibility of electrical or mechanical component break down.
Customer purchased the vehicle protection plan from a separate company called ************. They are supposed to handle the customers claim for any repairs which fall under their agreement with the customer, our company ********************** LLC has no obligations for repairs/maintenance of the vehicle.

Our company Pacific Motors LLC has no obligation of repairs/maintenance under any terms &conditions of all the documentation related to this transaction. We suggest the customer reach out to ************ with the concerns, the customer was given with all the contact info of the company ************ at the time of sale.
We sold this car in good faith without hiding anything, but it is the nature of used car that things can come at any point, if this car has those serious problems, then it shouldnt pass the *** same day they purchased the car.
********, ****** never contact us directly about this problem,in fact one of her friend (as mentioned by him) contacted us and used abusive language and threaten our employee for consequences.

It seems like they are deliberately making effort of hurting and defaming a small family-owned business. Besides that, we gave the customer full opportunity for inspection/testing/test driving, and she agreed to purchase on all the mentioned terms of As Is sale agreement. We have a very straightforward and transparent policy when it comes to selling any used car, especially the ones with higher mile.

Title and registration documents are already submitted to DMV in a timely manner. Moreover, it is clearly mentioned that after submitting transactions to DMV, they have their own processing time, which ranges from 6-8 weeks for mailed in transactions from dealer. It looks like the customer is making every effort to hide all the transactions details and making false statements.

      Regards,

      Complaint: 20282154

I am rejecting this response because:
I have no desire for a response from this business, I wish for other consumers to be warned of this businesss predatory practices. They continuously claim they have no responsibilities regarding safety as a car dealership. They state the mechanical issues with the car they sold were not present at the time of sale, yet the warranty they sold refused to cover the damages to the car because the damages could only have occurred prior to sale. This means that the business either lied about the condition of the car or the mechanic for the business is entirely incompetent and is putting consumers at risk. I want nothing from this business, I want the better business bureau to warn other consumers about this businesss practices.
      Sincerely,

      ***************************
