I called car safari LLC and spoke with the owner ***** to inquire about a vehicle they had for sale. During the call ***** made multiple gross misstatements of fact regarding the car. I specifically asked if there was any frame rust, he said no. And I asked if the vehicle was checked out, he replied that it would not be up for sale if his mechanics had not previously cleared it. I told him I was driving two hours to see the car, he made it sound like someone was buying it and I needed to put down a deposit for him to hold it. He lied about the reasons for the salvage title, saying some wholesalers are just putting salvage titles on cars, making it sound like there was no real reason for the salvage title. He told multiple lies to secure my deposit, then refused to refund it, even though the deposit agreement became null and void before it ever even came into play due to the outright misstatements of material facts regarding the vehicle. The vehicle as of today was still up for sale, even though it is completely unsafe for the road.

This has been escalated to a court legal matter by the customer and due to it being a pending legal matter the business as no response at this time.  A response can be made after pending legal matters are completed through court.

I am rejecting this response because:

There has been nothing filed in court, the business owner is lying yet again.

There have been no demand letters sent, and no court filings as of this moment. Involving the BBB was meant to offer the at-fault party a chance to do the right thing, and in essence, a chance to avoid litigation, after *************************(*****************) consistently lied, and unlawfullly refused to refund my deposit.

After a brief period, the business owner did refund the charge in full, but he did not hesitate to attempt to be instigatory in the correspondence regarding the refund. I feel like it's a real shame that there is even space in society for people to behave in such a manner.

With that being said, I just wanted to offer my most sincere thanks to the good people at the Better Business Bureau for being a stalwart entity to any and all who ever brought a legitimate complaint.

I believe y'all have aided many, and I also know that your presence in this situation did aid in the owner's ultimate decision to resolve this complaint. It took a little bit of standing up for the truth, and calling the proper state regulatory agencies, but the BBB definitely helped, and I sincerely appreciate y'all's time, as well as the diligent manner in which you handle complaints.

Per the last complaint she made a couple weeks ago ,  I wont respond to this woman,  she has threatened me personally , abused me with vulgar word, that cant be repeated on here ,   I told her our mechanic had a major surgery April 1st and she proceeded to attack me on voicemails and texts.  In a berating manner. I had to block her and call the police. I have a open. Harassment investigator going against her.   I had to exercise my right to refuse service to her after the threats to me and employees that I have documented.   We will not be doing an work on this car. Or is she allowed on our property.   I told her Id he needs to go to small claims court she can.   We did not sell her a bad car.   She first contacted us if any issues almost a month after sale.   This is the last you will hear from me on this one.   I have grounds for a restraining order if she contacts me again.

This car was purchase March 3rd,  she reached out March 29th for the first time saying it had problems the day she got it.  Im confused to why she waited 26 days to reach out.   We never refused to give her the 1/2 off labor warranty that we gave at the time of purchase. I simply told her our mechanic is going in for a serious neck surgery April 1st and we anticipate it being a month until he is able to work again (if at all) .  I told her we are trying to hire someone and thats a difficult process and to check back May 1st ,  I later told her ti check back April 15th to see where the progress in recovery is.    After I told her that. I received 300 plus harassing repetitive  texts and about 12 voicemails calling me explicit names and telling me various things like she hopes I get cancer and die amongst many other names being called that are to vulgar to repeat on here.   It got to the point that I have to call the police for the harassment.   I then at that time exercises my right to refuse service because of the continued harassment.   She said she was going to court over 100 Times.  Ive told her if that is what she needs to do then she can.   I cannot deal with this person and how they talk to me or treat me on any level.  All of my texts to her have been to the point and explaining exactly whats going on.  If needed I can forward all of these texts to the BBB and share the vulger voicemails.    This is definitely a situation I wish their was a site for businesses to complain about customers as well as customers complain about business.  I am not responding to her anymore on text ,  I am leaving it in hands of the police for the harassment and the courts for what she is asking is she decides to go to small claims court.  Until then Im silent. This woman has abused me beyond the ability to respond

I bought a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta from safari For $2800 , But before I did I asked questions about the car like if the car ran good if it had any major problems and the guy at the dealership said it had low miles it was a good running car there was nothing wrong with it he gave me a ride in it But I didn't get drive it so I couldn't tell by the ride so I got halfway down the street a couple blocks and I noticed there was something wrong with it right off I called and asked him if I could bring it back they told me sure I could come back and put it on the lot and when it sells they give me the money but that's all they could do for me they also said that it was not sold as is that it has a forever warranty on it as long as I bring it to their mechanic which I don't understand why they have a mechanic they should have fixed the car then sold it I think they have that backwards but no they want to make money And I have to buy all the parts and pay half of the labor which would be $50 an hour which I don't understand why I have to pay half of the major problems when it had nothing to do with me So anyway I took it to the Volkswagen dealership that was gonna cost me a lot but the guy was so nice there that he told me he wasn't gonna charge me because the car needed $6000 work too on It he was kind of sick about it he called the dealership and thought he would just let him know all the problems that it had and that they should really do something about it and that it wasn't right to sell me a car like that with those kind of problems but the guy didn't Care, So when I called the dealership and asked him what he could help me with he told me that he didn't want to hear about the problems and that he would discontinue the conversation if I kept acting mad about the problems with the car which I thought was kind of rude. , I have all the paperwork to the car I have the dealerships paper Of what's wrong with the car and the text messages Thank you

Unfortunately I am not going to respond to this deeply because I can’t take the verbal/text abuse from this customer , the customer has been very verbally abusive , to the point we have had to cut off communication and almost call the police for harassment,  we are currently have a blower motor on order to give her for free,  we offered a lot of free repairs and she never brought the car in,  she has been so aggressive verbally that I’m at the point of saying “we have the right to refuse service”.

#1 you have not been taken advantage of we ordered your part and had a 14 day window to get returned , we didn’t hear back so we returned it ,
#2 you where notified 11/10/21 yesterday that it came in and you said you will get it 11/11. You where informed it was coming from a different supplier as their is a parts shortage

#3 their was no threat to call the police. Their was a statement because I could no longer deal with the abusiv and demeaning texts that I asked over and over to stop (yes you stopped finally)

#4 you don’t know what to do?   Didnt I tell you last week we reordered the part and it would be at the lot in 5-7 days?

After ****** receives this part from us I’m and going to exercise my right to refuse service.  I will not put myself or any of my associates in the path of her verbal abuse.  It’s been a very difficult struggle to keep my cool and handle this . It’s unfortunate that it has come to this.   I will no longer respond to BBB messages or texts from ****** .  This is just going round and round saying the same thing I had to ha for on text minus the abusive words..

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I don't know it took me so long to safe up the money and I asked if the car had any issues and I was told it was a good running car, I haven't taken it in because I need to know just how long it will take to do the stuff they said they would fix and he couldn't tell me, I can't go with out a car for days, the guy thinks I've verbally abuse him, I have all the text I didn't call him names or threaten him so I don't know how I abused him , if he feels that I was abusive in Amy way then I apologize, I was just really let down to pay so much money for a car that has some major issues. When the Jetta dealership looked at it they shock there head and said it just wasn't right that they should do something. The stuff they are willing to fix is minor things but I have to pay for the major problems it didn't seem fair. I don't know I guess I am stuck with it. I trust people to help me and do me some what right, I am not out to do others wrong. But I guess it is what it is.

      Sincerely,

On Sept. 19, 2021, I test drove a 2009 Jetta at Car Safari LLC. The car ran well, but there was duct tape around the sunroof. The owner of the company told me that was why the car hadn't sold, but then said, "Don't worry, there aren't any leaks or anything." I believed him and purchased the car. As I drove off the lot, water began to pour onto my feet. I turned around and drove back. I explained what had happened and he said, "That's just the leak from the sunroof." Clearly, he had lied. There was a leak and he knew it before he'd sold it to me.

Here is my response to her 1 star review on ****** as well.. exact same thing

This is incorrect. I said its been raining hard the last few days and their is not leaking water on the floor of the car. Did it get water on you on your 1 hour test drive after we where closed ?? Yes we where going to donate it. We do that if we have cars that dont sell for a length of time. Not weird Its called a tax write off . It was scheduled to be picked up at 11AM the next day .. when you came back I said it could be from the sunroof but I cant tell without looking at it. You rudely demanded your money back and started cussing at me so I calmly walked away from the situation. You where given a warranty when you bought the car, the car a 2009 jetta wagon (retails over $4500) was $2000 because it had tape on the sunroof that you clearly saw. We cant fix it free and sell the car that cheap. We did offer to consign it for you free up to $2000 once the title comes to get your money back. That was not a option you liked. You are choosing to be out $2000. We did all we could to help you. Your very rude attitude and voicemails with ultimatums and threats are not a way to talk to anyone. I hope that you can calm down and we can consign the car for you when the title comes. I dont feel we deserved a 1 star review because I didnt honor customer threats.

You must not have read that I said we would sell it free up to $2000 ( thats not costing you anything and getting your money back. And anything over $2200 we would give you as well ! Please read your text I sent you and this response before you put false accusations in your response. You didnt just call the car the words you stated above , you said a lot more before I walked away from you. Offering to consign the car is not refusing to help. Did the water leak on the hour test drive you took? No it didnt. So why would I think it leaked ahead of time. I never once told you it didnt leak. I told you its a possibility but probably not since the car was dry and it had just poured rain for 3 days. Just because you are not happy with the car does not meant someone else may not want to buy something affordable that they could find the issue on. Ill still consign it once title comes free up to $2000 like I said . Had we not mailed title off we could have already had it on consignment and probably sold at $2000. My replies are not convincing. They are not meant to be. They are truth. Im not going to reply again to argue the same thing over and over .. if you would like we can put more solid tape over the whole sunroof for you since you had no problem it was their to begin with. WE DID NOT KNOW WATER LEAKED she is making that up.

      Complaint: 15898203

I am rejecting this response because:

When selling the car, the owner said: "It won't sell because there's duct tape around the sun roof. It's not leaking or anything." It didn't leak when I test drove it - I wouldn't have bought it. But it did leak immediately after I drove off the lot. I am not a car expert. I didn't know that duct tape and a wet smell in the car were indicators of a leak. A repair shop would have known. When I was told by someone I thought would know that there wasn't a problem, I trusted them. So, they are either not qualified to do repairs on cars as they didn't see and interpret the signs correctly, or, they are, and they knew there was a problem and lied to me.

Additionally, the value of the car is not $4500. This car with those miles in excellent condition is worth $1200 according to Edmunds True Value. So, based on that logic, they should be able to make the repair to up to $800 without losing any money based on the value of the car.

      Sincerely,
