I took my truck to a mechanic for an 85$ diagnostic for starting issue. They said it needed new starter and also that they pulled the distributor and broke a part so I needed to buy a new one to replace that. Then they said after relaxing 715$ in parts that my truck was running worse then what it was before and tried to give it back to me unsafe. I drove with and almost wrecked due to how unsafe it was. I then took it back and they are saying nothing is wrong with there work and pretty much its my fault. This was also after they asked if Id sell it to a ***** of theres for a low ball price of 1,000$. I feel used and abused by them. Ive been with out a truck because of this and the original issue I took it there is still not fixed even after 715$ in parts they said it needed it fix said problem. *** had to quit a job over not being able to get back and forth. My truck was reliable and would get me from point A to B before this it just wouldnt start sometimes and took a min but I could always get it started. Now taking it there Im out a truck, the money and a job.

      To whom it may concern,
We will start at the beginning with this complaint. We received the truck running rough and the customer complaint was that ever so often the truck would not start and that at one point beating the starter would get it to start. We brought it in the shop and threw a diagnostic tool on it and got codes for cylinder 2 and 3 misfire and a code for ECU voltage problems. To continue the diagnostic we pulled the spark plugs and the distributor cap to assess them and noticed that none of the spark plugs were torqued to spec and that the distributor, mainly the coil, showed signs of needing to be replaced. At this point we reached out to the customer and told them our recommendations at this point and they had agreed to have the parts replaced. Upon pulling the coil out of the distributor body the condenser wire had broken off of the condenser. We notified the customer of this and informed them that we would have to replace the distributor due to that particular part not being stocked in any of the local parts houses. We went out of our way to source a new distributor and sold it to them 150 dollars cheaper than the list price at the local parts store. not to mention that we took the cap rotor and coil and returned them so by the end of it they only had to pay an extra 30 dollars to have a new distributor as opposed to just getting a new cap rotor and coil. We also replaced the spark plugs due to the misfire on 2 and 3 cylinders and them being extremely fouled. Lastly we informed the customer that the *** sensor needed to be replaced due to the electrical cover being broken off. At this point there wasn't much of a change to how it was running so we opted to do a compression test. Mind you we have been in contact with the customer every step of the way and we have the text message transcripts as well. The compression test came out with 2 and 3 cylinders being at 5 and 10 psi, indicating it needs a top end rebuild and possibly having a cracked head as well. At this point I reached out to the customer again and informed them of this, and their first response was and I quote " What would be the damage there price wise? My grandpa thought a cylinder was out." At this point I was instructed to just get it running and driving and finish the work that was in the original quote and that is exactly what I did. After the customer had picked up the truck they were extremely unsatisfied and told us that we caused it and that it ran just fine before. At this point we had them drop the truck back off and had another mechanic in town verify everything I had done because we understand that people make mistakes. The other mechanic stated the same thing that the truck was running so poor due to the 2 and 3 cylinders having little to no compression. We had offered to refund the money paid for labor which was $285 but in return I asked that they sign a release of liability due to the anger directed towards the business. We also told them we would work with them on the top end rebuild but we wouldnt be eating the cost of it due to the fact that we are not the ones that cause the loss of compression. We have tried to work with the customer but I made it very clear that I am willing to work with them as long as there is respect on both sides.  At this point they informed me that they will be picking up there truck and that we would finish this in small claims court.
