I am filing a complaint with the BBB regarding a dispute centered on poor communication and service from my HOA, Affinity Group. Despite paying monthly dues on time, my maintenance requests, calls, and emails have been consistently ignored. The communication issues range from failing to schedule meetings with homeowners for major projects like potential roof replacements, to not being able to add my spouse to a simple email list. Service issues range from ignoring maintenance requests submitted over 7 months ago.Starting in 2024 I had to pay an increased HOA rate due to the "current reserve study being too low" and "some funds are saved in reserve for this but not enough. So its expected that there will be a deficit. The ******************************* process at this time. The new update when completed, will reveal the deficit amount."That message was sent in November 2023, and I have yet to receive any updates about the revised reserve study. When you pay a business monthly, you expect a certain level of service and communication, which is currently lacking. This is a sparse collection of issues regarding Affinity Group, and I hope this complaint serves as a step towards improvement.(Calling out that I am a USMC Veteran, per the BBB Military Line)------------Kraft Place c/o Affinity Group *****************************************Business response

Communication with this homeowner in our emails, show we have responded. In January we were asked to add his spouse, which she was added. We can see it in the Appfolio system. A team member communicated with the spouse after returning from vacation, asking for a call to see if we could get her email to work in the system. This team member also explained to **** that they would handle the email issues when they returned in July from vacation. As for meetings, repairs, dues increases, reserve study under funded, this has nothing to do with management. Those are all board decisions. All board members are volunteers. They all work hard juggling their personal life and volunteering on an HOA board. Yes, this HOA has a roof project coming up, but at this time, there is not a lot to update the owners on. Until the board has more information to share, it is not worth having a meeting with no info. Management would be happy to email all owners letting them know, the board is working behind the scenes to get the project together. Management is Affinity Group, HOA is Kraft Place. What is management to an HOA....It is to assist the board as needed. Repairs, go to the board for review. Dues increases are a board decision. An underfunded reserve study, the board makes decisions on how to fund it or makes changes, which they are working on. The revision didnt happen with the reserve study copmpany, so they moved to another company that was willing to come onsite and assist them. We are waiting for that study. Besides the email communication complaint, which I can see was replied to, the rest of what is mentioned, are board decisions, not management. Please reach out to me by phone, like I suggested in my email. We are here to assist the owners with getting updated. We would be happy to assist.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:" In January we were asked to add his spouse, which she was added." While my spouse might've been added to the email list, she has not been a recipient of these emails nor was there clear communication that she was added (hence us asking so many times). Just this week, on July 13th my spouse was not included in a email in relation to a board meeting, while I was.
As far as the board decisions/communication, there has been some development there, I am speaking with the *** board on a more consistent basis at the moment, so do not have a immediate update on this end.Sincerely,

Lying about statements and actions I have not done without physical evidence.Business response

There is no physical evidence available. A contractor complained about this owner taking pictures while they were working, walking through construction debris. It made them uncomfortable taking pics, and unsafe to be going through the construction debris. They asked that these owners not communicate directly with them. This was all filed with an attorney for the **** This is not something management has control over. ********** is a middleman between the Board, Vendors and the *********** ********** makes no decisions or has a say in how an HOA is handled. I have all the emails between this owner, myself, contractor and attorney. All statements this owner is claiming were true based on the information received from the contractor who was at times not wanting to finish the job after dealing with this owner.Customer response
