Office did work without proof of coverage, then charged me full amount. $500.00. they were supposed to get ok for work not necessary.Business response

***** did have insurance coverage which paid for most of his treatment. There was a frequency issue with the Periodontal Scaling & Root Planing that was completed on 06/15/2021 as being done too soon from the previous treatment for the same areas. We first saw this patient 05/24/2021 and ****************************** felt it in the best interest of the patient and his overall oral health to do the Scaling and Root Planing procedure. The patient did not inform us of his previous dental provider nor sign a release of records for us to be able to see when or if he had this procedure previously. It wasn't "unnecessary work". All work done in our office is for the overall oral and general health of our patients. We **** our patients insurance as a courtesy to them and they are informed that the balance is ultimately their responsibility. ***************** claim for the Date of Service of 06/15/2021 when we did the *** was denied for frequency limitations, making the balance his responsibility.
His insurance did cover their portions of his other appointments with us and was active at the time of service.
