On June 19, 2024, we took my car to the Washman Car Wash on Commercial in *****. Going into the carwash, everything was fine on my car. As we were coming out of the car wash, we (including the guy drying my car) noticed that my windshield had been cracked. We filed a report with ****, the manager, who was very helpful. After not receiving a call from Washman, I called the number provided to me by ****. I received a call back from *****, who is apparently designated as the person to determine whether or not Washman is at fault. I met with him this morning. He scratched and scratched at the crack, then proceeded to tell me my windshield broke because of a rock chip. There is NO rock chip there. He told me I could go through MY insurance to get the windshield fixed, that they are no fault. All I want is for Washman to pay my deductible (I have ********************** But he refused and threw coupons at me for free car washes. I am very mad and disappointed. I hope someone takes care of this, and takes care of *****' actions.

      Business response

      07/01/2024

Washman is not responsible for previously damaged items. The only way for your windshield to crack in the wash is because of a previous issue. Sometimes rock chips can be very small. When a rock chip is present the integrity of the windshield is compromised. Windshields expand with heat and retract when cold. When there is a rock chip present this expansion and retraction causes the windshield to crack. Washman is denying your claim and considers the matter closed.

Please return to the location you purchased the wash. Ask for the manager on duty and inform them that you would like to file a claim with us. At this point the manager will gather information from you, take photos, and turn the claim over to our claims department. At this time the claims department will investigate your claim.

On July 17th, 2023, I went into washman car wash on ************* and *****/************* in *******/********* area. I typically always walk around to check my vehicle which I did. And noticed my car had damage on the rear bumper. When I spoke with the reps that were there. They immediately denied liability and said that could have happened before. Over the course of the last 2 months I've spent my time trying to speak to them and no solve has occurred. I then went to my dealership and asked them to look at my vehicle as it still had warranty on it. I told them what happened, and asked could this have maybe been a manufacturing issue maybe due to the heat from the car wash and the bumper warping a little? They said absolutely not. They should be taking responsibility for this as this is not the first time this has happened with washman. I've had no success with washman corresponding or agreement to liability, and a friend of mine said I should submit a claim with you guys and see if we can get this resolved. I'd really appreciate any assistance. I JUST bought this vehicle in JUNE, so I had the car for a little under a month when this happened and have not been able to get anywhere with them. I will upload receipt from my bank account that I did in fact pay for this service on that day, and upload pictures (if I can) that shows the damage.Side note: in my previous car, I had never had any issues with washman and loved going there, and I always paid for the highest wash service they had. Now I'd rather pay more and get my car detailed then risk this happening again...Thank you in advance in your assistance in this. It will be much appreciated, and hopefully you can help!PS. I am not sure why your system is defaulting to the washman on 82nd Ave. This was not the location where this happened. Every time I picked the location on ***** and 242nd/***** DR, it would revert back to the 82nd location.

I am rejecting this response because:

Not necessarily rejecting your response. I went to the location and requested specifically to fill out a claim form (first time I heard of it). They knew about it and the manager said yes of course we can help with that. Not sure why this was so difficult in the past if you already have a claim form that I can easily fill out. Regardless, I did fill out the claim form, they already found my vehicle on that date of 7/16 where my car went through the car wash and are sending it up the ladder. The claim number is *******. I am hopeful this will get resolved, but I'm not 100% sure if the BBB claim should be closed or not until I get a response back from them. (I've never done this before)

      Sincerely,

      *******************

There two options available after filling out a claim form. It is deemed to be the fault of the wash and we take care of the issue. The second option, it is deemed to be not the fault of the wash. If they found the car on the available video (since its been a number of months, it may not be available) this should be a quick turnaround. Please call the number in the upper right-hand corner of the claim form to speak with the claims department.

      Complaint: 20612018

I am rejecting this response because:

So I met with the damage adjuster and he claims that the car was backed into maybe in a random parking lot that I parked in. While this may be quite possible, as is with any case, it is diminished by the fact that 1, I primarily work from home, and 2, I park in a closed garage. Based on my findings online there has been a ton of damages from car washes.

The other particular thing I found is, the gentleman that handled my claim (manager I believe) stated that in order to submit the claim once I fill it out, they would need to go look at the video footage and see if my car actually went through the wash in order to submit it. By the time I filled out the claim form, his associate had told him he found the video of me going through the wash and was already ready to submit the claim.

Now speaking with the damage adjuster, he is saying that the footage is not available for viewing and that what the manager said was incorrect. It doesn't necessarily match up with the story of what the manager who submitted my claim said.

Is there anything else we can do?

      Sincerely,

      *******************

If you feel the damage was caused by the wash. Contact your insurance company and have them call the claims representative.

6/30/23 I went through the car wash at ***************** *********** at 1:30pm. Three employees scrubbed my front windshield hitting the windshield over and over with scrubbing brushes. I heard loud noises on my windshield. When I came out of the car wash I immediately noticed a huge crack on my windshield. I filed a claim with the location. They took pictures and looked at the cameras. They could not see the crack on my windshield before entering the car wash. They told me most likely corporate would not cover my windshield as they quote dont do that. Since their employees or their machine is the proximate cause of my windshield damage they need to replace my windshield and cover the cost of replacement.

So I got like to get a car wash at Washman because they usually last pretty long. I went in today and notice that the top roll didn't work or turn on like last time so I went inside to ask why and the guy said they took decided not to. He offered me to get a free wash but when I went back in line there were about 12 cars ahead of me and on the ******* Washman the entrance is so screwed up that we're blocking traffic and people from coming out that are vacuuming their cars so instead of waiting I went back inside and ask them for a voucher for next time but he denied it

We took our car through the Washman car wash on 15th Ave in Longview WA. The brushes in the car wash left THOUSANDS of scratches on our vehicle. The damage is very apparent and obviously occurred at the car wash. Washman will not claim responsibility and says they see no damage.

      Business response

      03/31/2022

Washman Car Wash Is denying your claim. The micro scratches on your vehicle appear to be caused by a standard, known issue with dark colored cars, when they are not maintained with wax. This issue is not caused by the wash. Automotive spider web scratches are a result of a loss of lubricating abilities of the clear coat due to prolonged UV exposure. As a result of the loss of lubrication from the clear coat, the car becomes more susceptible to scratches. This can be corrected by regularly applying wax to your vehicle. We made a good faith effort, out of courtesy, to wax and buff your vehicle, which you declined. This offer still stands under those conditions. When you brought this to our attention the following day. The time you supplied us of your wash was not accurate.  As a result we were unable to find your vehicle on video. Washman continues to deny this claim and considers the matter closed.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not bring this to Washmans Attention the following day. I notified them THE SAME DAY. The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 22nd at approx 2PM and can prove such with a credit card transaction. Additionally, the claim agent pretended not to see the obvious scratching and damage to my vehicle that is a result of a single event and is not “normal wear”. This explains toon is shared by not only myself, my insurance agent, 2 independent professional paint repair shops and the photographic evidence I have.
      Sincerely,

The ‘normal wear and tear’ as the company put it, required our entire car receive a whole new paint job and $7400 charged to my own insurance on our new car.
