The Adventist posted price for an echocardiogram was $592.92. I am a cash payer, so I research the prices for such tests at various locations. I also check a health care blue book for fair prices in my area. That fair price was $746. So I was glad to pay $592.92, and that is what I was asked to pay at the time of service. The appointment was at the minimal time estimated (30 min out of ***** quoted). There was no need for added procedures such as ink injection. But a month later I received a bill for an additional $652.52. That is more than double the good faith estimate, which means that estimate was nowhere close. And I would not have had the test done at Adventist if I had known the cost would be so high. To have this more than doubled after the fact seems unethical if not illegal. And certainly does not comply with federal HHS regulations concerning medical pricing transparency. I was told theyd put a hold on my account until the dispute was resolved, but I found out today theyve sent my bill to collections. This has become a nightmare. Please help.Initial Complaint

My wife was admitted on the 8th of July to the Adventist Health ER due to an infection in her leg. She already had a Medtronics Guardian 3 transmitter placed in her arm previously and when the radiology technicians took her to get an MRI, they removed the transmitter and disposed of it in the garbage which did not allow for accurate tracking of her blood sugar levels during her hospitalization. When I asked about the transmitter, it was not addressed or clear as to who was taking responsibility or how it was going to be replaced. I took it upon myself to work through my insurance company to obtain another transmitter on my own. I have attempted to contact radiology, ER and several other administrative personnel and left several voice messages but to date (20 July), there has been zero resolution or even a call back. Before I take additional legal action, I would like to request a call back or some sort of indication or acknowledgement of the issue with an intent on replacing the unit that was discarded. I can be reached at my contact info. Thank you.Initial Complaint
