    Pattern of Complaint:
On November 13, 2020, Better Business Bureau was alerted to a business operating as N. W. Relocation. The business advertises an address of 2737 NW Nela Street Portland, Oregon 97210 and the business website can be found at, www.bestmovingcompanyportland.com. The business is a broker that assists in providing moving services to consumers who are relocating their personal belongings to a new address. Consumers allege they have had to pay driver’s a significantly higher amount of money than what was agreed to, items are missing or broken, and changes are made to the contract which inconveniences the consumer. Consumers state they have attempted to contact the business to address their concerns, however,  the business is unresponsive to their requests for assistance.

On December 03, 2020, BBB spoke with a business representative. Due to the pandemic and government imposed restrictions, N.W. Relocation is working with minimal staffing. They are unable to respond to the consumer complaints as rapidly as they were prior to the pandemic. Steps are being taken to address the concerns reported by their customers.

BBB encourages consumers to visit the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Safety Carrier Administration Protect Your Move website at  https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move. This website offers consumer protection tips as well as an opportunity for consumers to review moving company ratings for a carrier they may consider hiring.

Consumers can file complaints with Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org as well as with the United States Department of Transportation Federal Motor Safety Carrier Administration (FMCSA) at https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/nccdb/home.aspx.

We found new relocation for our moving services. We were walked through a lengthy process of discussing everything in the house that would be moved, what furniture, how many boxes, and we were given a quote. We were told we had to pay a deposit and the day our ability to get a refund on the deposit came, they let us know there would be an extra 2000 or more in charges. We were also given the impression we would teceive the items on a certain day. We were purposely misled from the very beginning with the quote and services. Then when movers arrived was the day we were leaving. We had already lost money on this move, and then we were told there would be an additional $500+/- in charges to wrap the items, which we had listed already and paid for already and were told wrapping was included. We didn't see the contract till the day movers arrived and was made to sign after they had already started putting things on the truck and wrapping furniture. We signed and just took the loss but then put items were put into storage for almost a month, with over a week of us not being able to contact them.We did eventually receive our items, about 3 weeks later then the target move in date. We had to buy items to survive and eat out a lot. However what we received, we were missing thousands of dollars of items and several items were broken or lost. Including TV stand shelves that we had to pay an extra $150 for wrapping. The whole experience was terrible. Looking at the reviews online this is a company that purposely scams people and has not a single good experience. I lost thousands of dollars on an experience I only did because I was purposely misled in a contract and was charged more. They lost sentimental items, useful, and medicinal life saving medication.

-Booked move from ********, ** to **********, ** in early December 2023 through Eagle Moving Group that was facilitated/coordinated by NW Relocation, who I paid extra to pack/load my apt -Not only did less than half of my items arrive to my destination in **********, but most of what did was damaged/destroyed beyond repair. Further, I received 3 boxes of items and a mattress that weren't mine.-Several large pieces of furniture, my mattress, bedding, ALL of my **************** of memorabilia, including the only remaining pictures of my deceased mother I have, are missing/unaccounted for -Upon being recently contacted by another individual who'd moved from ******** to ******** whose items were on the same moving truck notified me that the semi with our items and 3 other individuals was in a significant accident causing the truck to hit a ravine and flip on its side, causing all of our items to be thrown and scattered on a highway in *******. He sent me pictures of the accident, the police report from the accident, and informed me to contact the *********** of ************** (ODOT), as NW Relocation is not an authorized carrier and therefore, legally, cannot facilitate inter-state moves - a fact that I myself confirmed with ODOT -I've tried calling and emailing NW Relocation since the end of December and continually only get a voicemail and have received no response to my emails - a fate that myself and the others whose items were on the truck all share -NW Relocation never notified any of us about what happened, nor have they tried to make it right; it's like they disappeared entirely -I submitted a claim for the $12k in damage caused by this disaster of an operation through Anthem Claims, as directed via my moving paperwork, which I submitted 1/2/24, and still have received no word about a settlement, nor have I received any contact from NW Relocation -The fact that a company can get away with this is beyond me; I literally paid $3600 for them to destroy my life

After contact with a broker on a last minute move, I was given NW Relocation with no idea that they would be the company handling my move. Items were picked up September 28th 2023 and kept in a warehouse in ******** for 3 weeks before even beginning what would normally be a 2 day trip from ******* to *********. Multiple attempts to contact them led to no response and calls being left unanswered for weeks.Upon delivery near the last possible day they could deliver on, I was told they don't accept cashier's checks (when every interaction with the company and broker before said that would be the only way I could pay at dropoff). I was able to pay with zelle (an option I was told was not allowed for dropoff). Numerous boxes were damaged, crumpled and torn. A TV stand as well as a table were both broken. And on top of that, after going through everything unpacking, I am still missing a box with very important things in it.I don't expect to ever see the contents of that box again with the way this company has handled things. I have no way to contact them as they don't even have a public website or any listed contact info.

Movers showed up 3 days late on July 31st with my belongings. N9 communication about being late 3 days even though I had taken time off work. I have since complained multiple times about many issues including fraudulent charges and still no response. Beyond the ever increasing amount due and so so so much of my stuff being horribly damaged, I was fraudulently charged $600 (attempted to add another $50 to that at delivery) for a shuttle that was NOT needed. I also greatly believe had my stuff not been repeatedly moved it would have kept it from getting as badly damaged. I have not submitted my claim yet as the damage is growing every box I open but am attaching a few photos so you know the extent I'm referring to and how carelessly my stuff was transported. I have also attached a photo and video of my home and street they said was too small for a semi. Complete lie. The issues I have had with your moving company is beyond unacceptable. I will be surprised if I hear from anyone after the experiences I've had but figure I should send it anyways in hopes maybe someone at NW Relocation cares about their customers getting their belongings destroyed, fraudulently charged and the list goes on and on with the issues I have had. I will NEVER use your company again. Will be reporting everywhere possible and depending on the damages will take legal action as clearly your company holds people's stuff hostage and forces them to pay whatever you want to get their horribly damaged belongings back. As you can see in the attached photos from my driveway no shuttle was needed as their were semis outside my house as their are on my street weekly. NO SHUTTLE WAS NEEDED AS WAS AGREED BY ALL PARTIES UNTIL THE *** BEFORE DELIEVERY AND FINAL PAYMENT WAS DUE

I was referred by First National Vanlines to NW Relocation for my cross country move. I moved on May 22nd. At pickup, I was charged $300 more than I should have been for additional items. I was sure I had listed them originally but NW said I did not, I made the payment just to keep the process going. I was told my items would be delivered in 3-4 weeks. I started reaching out to both First National and NW Relocation. I never heard back from First National. I received a call from *** at NW Relocation and she said their driver will be contacting me ***** hours before arrival and will coordinate a time for delivery. On 7/23 at 11pm the driver messaged me about delivery the next day. I was asleep. He expected that I would be at the storage unit at 9 am when he was available to deliver. I live 2 hours away from the storage space. I messaged him back at 7 am and a few times after. He reached out around 9:30 and demanded that I meet them. I rushed up to the unit. I was missing a few boxes, received damaged furniture and my mattress was tied to the back of their **** it rained that morning. I was told Id receive a refund of $300 since the delivery was late 12 days. My delivery took 9 weeks, I was originally quoted 3-4 weeks. Its now been 8 weeks since my delivery and I have not received my refund.

08/05/2023 paid $10,500 (approx) was quoted $4500. This move was an absolute nightmare! Many of our belongings were DESTROYED due to an angry mover. He literally dropped boxes off the truck, then dropped them again onto the ground in our garage and basement, which is just off the garage. The boxes were crushed and damaged. He refused to move anything upstairs to the main floor despite my contract including one flight of stairs. He didnt assemble any furniture, which was also in our contract. At one point he sat down and stated to my husband that unless we could paid him more money he would not move anything upstairs to the main floor. When we finally agreed to pay, he said he would only move the 1/4 of our stuff that was still on the truck and not all the items already in the garage. Throughout the move, additional charges had been added bit by bit and we ended up paying an extra $5,000 over what we were originally quoted, only to not even have our items moved in accordance with our contract! Finally, our driver, ******, who was angry that I had moved the drop off date to the next day so my husband could be home, (I was in another country) continuously insulted me to his co-worker loud enough for my husband to hear from another room. When I emailed and called the company about this, all they said was well use this as a training experience!

NW Relocation picked up our household belongings in ***** on June 1, 2023. They were hired by the moving company we originally contacted, Eagle Moving Group. They ended up charging us more than what we were quoted over the phone. Once they had the truck packed up and were ready for payment they told my husband he had to pay using cashapp. Which we refused. They called someone and they took our CC over the phone. Fast forward to today. It is now Aug 2, 2023 our promised delivery date was by July 30 which we didnt know until around the 24th of July. They have given us the run around since mid June. Its always we are waiting on a driver or Ill call you back with an update. I feel our household items have been held hostage by this company at this point. We have children without clothes, and beds and no one at NW seems to care. We are a military family and we just want our lives to go back to normal. I feel like what they have done to us and so many others is not right and they should not be in business! We just want our belongings!!!

      Customer response

      08/17/2023

This company is now demanding payment before they will even deliver our items and that payment must be in money order, cash or Zelle. And the payment they are demanding is $2,100 however all of the paperwork we have says nothing about this.. they have sent us paperwork that is different from the signed copy my husband has. They altered the paperwork after the fact. They are completely unhelpful and *** is just plain rude. She will continue to talk over you and will not let you get a word in and then hangs up whenever she feels attacked. Yes, I am very angry that you are holding my stuff hostage and demanding payment for something we have already paid for and then altering a receipt. I have every right to be angry and then dealing with *** is just plain infuriating because you cannot get a word in. Whats weird is Ive asked for a supervisor or the owner to contact me and she refuses to let me talk to anyone but her. Her exact words are you will only ever be talking to me after telling me you can find the owners information online. This company is a scam and I will be filing a lawsuit.

I hired ************************ without knowing they subcontract out. NW Relocation showed up to move my stuff. One employee was smoking Marijuana while loading my families belongings on the truck. When my stuff finally arrived where it needed to be the driver didn't notify my for 5 days then harassed me all memorial weekend for money that I couldn't get until the banks were open. I asked him to store my belongings in a unit and I would pay when the banks were open. He said no he would wait. Tuesday came and we couldn't reach him for payment. This whole time I am trying to contact NW Relocation without much luck. Wednesday comes and still no word on my stuff then I finally reach someone at NW Relocation but they only laughed and hung up on me. ************************ lawyer contacted me and said he would help file a suit against them which didn't make sense as he is their lawyer too (sketchy) he also said NW Relocation would email me the following day with details on how to pay. It's been two weeks and still no word. I never would have trusted these people with my belongings after reading their reviews but ************************ never said they subcontracted out. Also after reading theor reviews they seem to like to break, go through and steal people's belongings. I want a refund and I want my stuff.

Consumer NEVER contacted w/ & has no knowledge of this company, NW Relocation. Instead, consumer contracted with Pricing ********* who (w/o consumers knowledge) contracted the move (** pick up) to a 2nd company, who it now appears contracted our move (WA delivery) to NW Relocation. The delivery was late & several excuses were provided for the delay by the 2nd company. A delivery date was set & never once was the consumer informed of or given the option to decide about the inclusion of NW Relocation in the move. Furthermore, movers arrived in an unmarked truck and requested additional monies for unincluded "service fees" prior to unloading property. While unloading several items were noted as damaged & there did not appear to be enough items unloaded to include all our property. Within approximately ***** mins, we realized the 50" flat screen along w/ other items were missing & immediately texted the # provided by the delivery person, w/o response. As I have no knowledge/contract w/ this company, I have no means of recourse/resolution. Note: The ONLY reason I was LUCKY to find this info. this morning (5/28/23) was by reviewing the saved screenshot text & seeing this company name included the message body. Otherwise, I would have never known about this third leg of this moving scam. Check the included screenshot in the attached documents.Cross Reference BBB complaint: BBB Serving Southeast *********************** Complaint #********

N.a. Relocation *** was subcontracted out by United Nationwide to pickup and deliver my household items from ********** to **************. Picked up on 11/10/22 and told would be delivered on 11/16/22. As of 12/4/22 I still don't have my stuff. At time of pickup they also added additional charges that were not on the original contract. Now they won't answer my calls. I believe they added more charges because of the higher gas prices.
