I sent watch to Watchrepair cc. for cleaning, repair of gold on the case, crystal repair, polishing, and anything else needed to return watch to condition as close to original as possible. Upon completion I sent payment via check as requested and watch was returned in overall poor condition. Crystal was not clear with surface marks, gold was poorly polished, face had been cleaned removing much of the logo and a few second hands, gold was poorly repaired, movement was glued into the watch back with black glue, back did not fit properly and moved around. I sent the watch to another watch maker to get his opinion and he stated watch should never be glued into watch back and this was not industry standard, crystal had many surface markings, movement was not cleaned properly and still had dirt/residue inside, case was not cleaned or polished properly, face was poorly cleaned and should be restored to get the watch near original condition, back needed small adjustment to retaining metal to fit correctly. Overall assessment was that original services provided by Watchrepair cc. did not meet professional guidelines or industry standards and were not carried out as indicated and billed for.

Note that this *********************** IS in business, in ********, **, presumably performing watch repair.Mid-January, ****, a ******** pocket arrived to ****************, sent as non-working, and prior, was given a repair estimate range of $500-750. Tops. Later, the price jumped to $945. I instructed a return, admittedly, calling him "a charlatan." It would be, at a cost of $85- as a $50 "bench charge," and $35 postage (I paid $5, Priority Mail.)Do I understand that this guy, if he has any experience here, doesn't know, to a dollar, the cost of this procedure? There is no excuse, once he has the piece in hand, as leverage, with the proverbial gun to my head, for the price to jump by some 30%.Speculation, since I will not pay, is that he will either profit from using a free watch for parts, for which he will charge some dupe, or repair it and put it on ***** or somewhere, for what? $150? Neither here nor there, but tangentially apropos, note that this is a dime-a-dozen, $50 value. Millions emerged from the late 19th, early 20th century and go unsold on various sites.***************** **********, **
