On September 1, 2016, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding delivery issues. Complaints allege that between February and December 2014, backers contributed $185 - $1000 to The Coolest Cooler kick starter startup campaign. Backers allege they were told that by backing the product up financially, they would be one of the first to receive the cooler.
Over two years later it is alleged that backers have not received the cooler as promised, however the coolers are being sold to the public today.
It is alleged that when backers reached out to The Coolest Cooler, they were advised that for an additional contribution of $97, they will be guaranteed a shipping date for their cooler. It is also alleged that the company advises backers that they may request a refund, but the refund will not be considered until two weeks prior to the unknown shipping date of the cooler.
On September 30, 2016, BBB received a response from The Coolest Cooler. The company advised BBB that it is working on an updated plan to share with Kickstarter backers. At this time, no plan has been implemented on how The Coolest Cooler will work with BBB on eliminating the underlying pattern of its complaints.
