2/20/2024 ***** s80 alternator repair. Paid $636. My car has not run since. I have had very poor communication in resolving this issue. I sent a video of my car as it does not run and has a loud sound now. The email has gone unresponded to for over 10 days now. I attatched a more detaied experience.

I paid McFarland's Mobile Mechanic $15,000 for an engine to be rebuilt. I've never even gotten close to the 1 year warranty and that was 5+ years ago. The bus has been in and out of the ********* since. I have been left stranded multiple times due to engine failure, one time for 3 weeks in *******. They have had my bus for 11 months currently and still don't have it repaired. The owner refuses to contact me.

On Feb. 16th 2023, a mechanic from McFarland's Mobile Mechanics came to my home to diagnose two problems with my **** Econoline; an oil leak and a water leak. Their mechanic said I had a leaky radiator and a leaking valve cover. He said he would get back to me with an estimate. He was at my home about 15 minutes. I never heard from him again. I had another man do the work for me. There was no leak in the radiator. The water was leaking from a gasket on the housing. The oil leak was from an oil filter that had not been installed correctly. So I had paid McFarland's Mobile $256.45 for a diagnosis that was completely wrong. I called the owner of McFarland's and asked for a refund of my money. He said he would think about it, and get back to me. That was three weeks ago, and I have not heard from him since.

*********************** was supposed to send us over a copy of the invoice from the other mechanic for us to review and has not done so. It's hard to say we're at fault in our diagnosis without proper documentation.

Once she sends us the invoice from the repairs, we will review and make a decision for a refund.

I am rejecting this response because:
When I called the owner/manager to ask for a refund, he asked me to send an invoice from the man who did my job. I clearly told him I had no invoice, because I hired a young man who works at an auto parts store to do the work, and I paid him in cash. The owner immediately responded: "let me think about it and I'll get back to you." He is lying when he said I offered to send the invoice. Yes, he ASKED me to send it...but HE surely remembers that I told him I never got an invoice from the man who did my work. It perplexing that a business would sully it's reputation, and destroy the good will of a repeat customer, over a mere $256. It's not like ********************** is out any money. The mechanic was at my home for the length of an average coffee break.
      Sincerely,

      *******************************

      Hello,

I'm the Service Manager for McFarland's Mobile Mechanics, LLC.

Looking back into the appointment on 02/16/23, our facility had a technician go out to perform a diagnosis of the vehicle due to the customer stating it was leaking coolant. We recommended repairs, but did not perform the repairs. After this happened, we were under the impression she did not want to continue services with us - which we understand completely. From what we are informed of now, it appears that ****************** took her vehicle somewhere else and had them complete the repairs. With this in mind, we do not issue refunds unless we have evidence (i.e. an invoice from another mechanic) that we were incorrect with our diagnosis. As of right now, it seems ****************** took our diagnosis results and had somebody else perform one of the repairs we suggested to her. This indicates we were not in the wrong.

      Complaint: 19892052

I am rejecting this response because: I accepted the diagnosis of the McFarland mechanic at face value. I asked him if it would be him doing the job, and he said yes. I told him that I would await a call from McFarlands, with a price quote. I fully intended for McFarlands to do this work for me. I told the mechanic this. Nobody from McFarlands ever called me back. I waited a week for a call. When they did not call back, I assumed they did not plan to do the work for me, so I found some else. The diagnosis of McFarland's mechanic was completely wrong. There was no leak in my radiator and no oil leak where the mechanic said there was. The water leak was from a gasket, and the oil leak was from an oil filter that had been installed incorrectly. I paid $256. for an incorrect diagnosis.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************

I do not have a receipt from the young man who did the work on my vehicle. He works at an auto parts store, goes to school, and does auto repair whenever he has free time. I am extremely grateful to have found a competent and inexpensive mechanic, so I was not about to quible about paying cash and not receiving a receipt from him. I only filed a complaint with BBB, in hopes of warning others about this business. I also left a a ****** review. I have a feeling that my ****** review warning will reach many more people than anything I can say to BBB.

I hired Mcfarland's Mobile Mechanics to get my pickup started. We have a newer Dodge Pickup that we didn't use for about a month. Well apparently the batteries can run down because of all the sensors that it has. Mcfarland Mobile Mechanics came out and tried to start it by jumping the battery. I told the mechanic there was a specific way to jump this vehicle that you couldn't connect directly to the battery itself. Well he chose not to listen to me and tried to jump start the vehicle anyway and a loud pop was heard inside the cab. I do not know if there was any damage because the vehicle hasn't been started yet and taken to the ************ then the mechanic ended up taking the two batteries to their shop. The following week I called and left a message and got no response. A couple of days go by again so I called them back to find out what was happening and I talked with the receptionist. While on the call my wife says in the background, "Well you've had it a week what's going on". The receptionist replied that she didn't know but that she would find out. The owner ***** calls back a couple of minutes later and tells me to come pickup my batteries because he doesn't work with people that do not trust him. I tried to calm him down but he kept telling me that he doesn't work with people who disrespects him. I told him he needed to bring back my batteries or I'd call the police. He said he would bring back the batteries but he wouldn't install them. I paid $240 for this service and didn't get any benefit from it so I would like my money back. Also there might be further damages to my truck by not listening to me. I won't know this until I get it into the Dodge Dealer.

      Good morning,

We will not be refunding ******************* any money as we have performed a diagnosis of the vehicle, he just doesn't like what we have recommended. When he was on the phone with our Service Advisor, ******, she was trying to help, but could hear in the background someone questioning what we were doing, why it was taking so long and if we knew what we were doing. From the beginning, he even stated, he was trying to tell ************** how to do his job. Why hire us if he was going to tell us how to do our jobs? We've been in business a very long time and have over **** customers who do trust us. After ****** got off the phone and told the rest of us what she heard, I did call the customer back and let him know that if he did not trust us or was going to be disrespectful that we did not have to do business with him. We'd much rather work on customer's vehicles who do trust us and who do allow us to do our jobs. While on the phone with ***, I could also hear in the background someone speaking ill of our company. Unfortunately for ***, that person is also a representation of him. During the conversation, I tried my best to calm him down from cursing and raising his tone with me and tried my best to educate why we recommended replacing the batteries, why there was a loud pop noise and that after we replace the batteries, we'd be inspecting for a parasitic draw on his vehicle (we STILL attempted to resolve the concern with the vehicle), but in the long run, he called us back and asked us to reinstall his batteries. We did so out of the kindness of our hearts. When my apprentice technician went back to install the old batteries, *** was STILL complaining that it was late and my apprentices exact word via text message to us at the shop was, "I called and told him I'm brining the batteries and he was all flipping out because we're bringing them out so late." My apprentice tech was out of there by 6:30PM. We still tried our best to help in the situation. Unfortunately,  it wasn't good enough for him.

      Complaint: 19605340a

I am rejecting this response because: Mcfarland Mobile Mechanics never diagnosed anything. I called them and told them that my pickup needed a jump or the batteries charged because we hadn't driven it a month and the sensors had ran the batteries down. When the mechanic came out he didn't try to diagnose what was wrong he immediately tried to jump the vehicle. When that didn't work he removed the batteries and took them to his shop to charge them. Then the owner (*****) called and told me multiple times to come pickup my batteries because he didn't work with people who didn't trust him. Even though his company caused the mistrust by not informing us of what was happening with our batteries and not returning our calls after having them for a week. We haven't worked with this company before so their lack of communication and failure to return our calls lead to the mistrust. When he decided to cancelled the original agreement and not fix the truck he breeched our agreement. So he needs to return the $240 we paid to complete the repair which the owner refused to do.

My complaint is about McFarland's Mobile mechanic at ************************************* ************. The reason is because takes money for vehicle repairs but doesn't come back to actually do the repairs. Also, poor attention to detail. Didn't have fluids for lube/oil/filter. Didn't check tires during first visit. During their second visit they didn't fix any problems because they brought THE WRONG PARTS! but SURE DID TAKE MY MONEY !This mobile mechanic business is trying to milk me for service call fees to repair my truck. 1st visit (7/22/22) for 3 issues. Did not perform a full service lube oil filter, no windshield fluids, no tires checked, etc..., no parts for the three problems I booked them for. Paid for lube/oil/filters for 2 vehicles and diagnosis of truck's issues $256.96.2nd visit to redo 2 lube/oil/filters and installation of parts for the truck. Which turned out to be = one correct part, one INCORRECT part, and no part for 3rd issue. Paid them for repair and mechanic said would be back with other correct parts. Paid them $395.03. This time he did not return for a THIRD!visit. Phone calls were not returned either. How many service call $fees does it take them? Four, five, six... while they bank those multiple service call charges? After I left McFarland's a negative ****** review mcFarlands finally did call. I discussed my proposed resolution but all he wanted to do was argue with me and talk in circles. That's when I courteously told him that he knew how he could make it right (refund) and since he only wanted to argue I told him I was ending the call. Who wants to argue with a scammer who admits wrongdoing IN WRITING (response to my ****** review)!I have paid a total of $651.99 and only received 2 partial lube/oil/filters and one of three issues with my truck. Now I have to start anew with a mechanic to repair my truck's issues McFarland's charged me to repair. I don't trust driving the truck nor do I trust allowing McFarland's to 'work' o

      Hello,

In the matter of ***********************, we went out and performed maintenance on two of her vehicles on the first visit, and on her **** **** F150, we diagnosed an electrical concern with her turn signal switch and window switch. We do not carry any additional parts for any vehicles as we service all makes and models.

We created an estimate to which she agreed upon and went back out with parts ordered per her VIN of her vehicle. Unfortunately, one of the parts was incorrect, which does happen in our industry from time to time as vehicles are made with several options.

When she called and spoke to us in a very ill manner, we did not shout back or call her any names, we kept it very professional. We still have the correct part that showed up later that day, but she no longer wanted our services.

She has only paid for the services rendered, not any additional for parts that were not used.

We can either come out again and install this part, or we can return it. She can call us in the shop ************ and arrange an appointment if she likes.

      Thank you,

McFarland's Mobile Mechanic came and replaced my car battery. During the replacement, the technician lost/broke the positive terminal battery bolt. I learned this the following when I took my car in for maintenance due to the check engine light being after battery replacement. I was charged $226.94 from the Carr Chevy dealership to fix the damage. On 8/11 I contacted McFarland's and spoke to Jimmy (?) and asked who I send the reimbursement claim to. He told me it was not their concern, I should have taken the car to them. Why would I take my car to the place that created the damage rather than the trusted dealership I have a relationship with since the damaged was caused by their company? How was I suppose to know they broke off a piece?

      Good morning,

I didn't say it wasn't my concern, what I did say is we have a warranty policy that we honor and if we were called, you would not have been charged for the repair. The day our apprentice tech went out and replaced your battery, you knew it was our apprentice taking care of the vehicle. We also have 8 other mechanics that are not apprentices that could have come and double checked the work. I don't mind refunding a little of the labor, but I will not refund the whole $226.94 as that's absurd to charge for a single positive battery terminal bolt.

It looks like our labor was $145 that day. I'll refund half of that as that's how long it should have taken to install a new bolt, clear the code and take on a test drive to verify the concern.

Look, we're not in business to get over on people, that's not what we're about, but we're also not in business to pay another shop to do our work for us and we're not in business to lose money. We have a warranty that we honor, we've been in business for over 11 years. We're human, we're going to make mistakes, but we try our best to make sure we take care of our mistakes and get all vehicles back on the road safely.

      Sincerely,
