Date of Transaction: March 8, 2024 I thought I called ******* ********************** Repair, ******* OR to repair a leak on my gas stove burner.The repairman who arrived, named *****, was wearing a shirt showing a business called Able Appliance Repair. He said he had worked for Able for 15 years but they were no longer in business.He said he could repair it and I paid $250 by check so the part could be ordered. (Two burner tubes and a valve.). He said he would call when the part came in.It is now April 10 and I have heard nothing. I tried calling Able as listed online. *************). No answer; just a recording that they were busy. Left a message but no reply. Tried several times since. Called ******* ********************** repair *************) to see if he actually worked for them. They knew nothing of this order or an employee named *****.The invoice listed Able Appliance Repair, but curiously I notice later it does not include a phone number.I looked at my recent bank statement and the $250 check cleared the very next day, March 9, 2024.The receptionist at ******* warned that there were scammers operating here in just this fashion.Can you help?Initial Complaint

Like the last complaint filedI was visited by Able Appliance owner who checked out my KENMORE ELITE freezer. Said Control panel needed replacing which I already knew. Said he could order it for ******. I was asked if I could write a check for the cost of the part which I did. ****** to *************************** ( or *******). Have been in phone contact with Able Appliance numerous times ( almost daily ) including today..Monday April 1, 2024. Left messages on their phone for a return phone call. Received phone call on 2/20/24 saying part was ordered and b available in 10 days.No communication what so ever. Decided today to file complaint with BBB. All I want is my money backappears this will never happen since my check was cashed ??When I called today (April 1st) said place was closed. Tried to get on website and it was shut down. Im done with this outfit and hope that r caught up with and shut down. Seems like these folks should be criminally prosecuted and be liable for dollars they have stolen from me and others like me!!!!Initial Complaint

I paid Able for a new motor for my dryer. They called me after a few weeks and said they were having trouble getting the part and asked if I would like a refund until the part comes in. I sad "no, lets give it more time." Never heard anything again for a while, so I called them back and they told me the part would be in "next week." They never called again so I called back and was told the part would not be in for another couple of weeks and would I like my money refunded. Again, I said no since it would be in shortly. No sense in refunding and repaying. Then in January 2024 I called and asked for my money back. They were always really nice and said yes they would mail me a check. Did not hear back from them, so on 2/19 they sent me a text saying they were sorry and would look into the problem with the refund. On March 7 I received a text apologizing again and saying they are short staffed and would send a tech on the following Tuesday to deliver my refund. I have never received a refund or a response back since then. I have sent several text messages and left several phone messages asking what was going on. They won't answer my calls or texts.Initial Complaint

We have a broken ice maker on our Whirlpool refrigerator. We called ABLE APPLIANCE REPAIR on 3/1/24 and were happy to recieve same day service. We paid ~$350 for service and a deposit on a replacement ice maker. The technician said that they would be back in less than a week. We have never heard back. We have called and left messages ~6-8 times now and have sent two emails.The phone number they list with their business card and is also found on ****** is ************.Initial Complaint

On 1/8/2024 repairman came to the house to determine the parts needed to fix my GE Monogram Refrigerator Climate Control panel. He said it needed a new control module, he looked up the part and said his cost was $641.33. He asked me if I could write him a check for the part now and unfortunately, I did. I texted and communicated with him the following days ***. 31 February. 7 February 9 February 10 February 12 February 16 Feb 17 Feb 19 Feb. 26 always an excuse. And the last excuse was very sad, he had just found out he has cancer. The first excuse was justified.. But now its been 8 weeks to the day. Unfortunately I just found same issues on the Better Business Bureau page. I told Him, I would come to Springfield and pick up the part or mail it to me or give me my money back Still nothing!! On Nov. 16, 2023 Able Appliance Repair (***********************) was paid $521.00 for parts to repair my oven. Dec. 5, 2023 *** ******** did what he said were the necessary repairs. I paid him $345. Since then my oven takes 45 min. to heat to 350 degrees, and the oven broiler function no longer works. I have called 6 times trying to reach Able for help, leaving a message each time with my phone #, and have no had not one reply. I am very upset and wonder if they are a fraudulent company, since there is no explanation as to why they do not return calls, after each time the voice mail says their customers are important to them.Business response

We have sent the tech to her *********** times with no answer at her door. When the new part arrived, we had issues contacting this customer.
We want to make sure ***************** is taken care of. We will have the tech take a video of each time he tries to make contact in the future.Customer response

I called Able on 12/7 when my fridge's water filter hatch was spraying water. Their technician came out and looked at it, and told me I needed a part that was $85. The technician also asked to see my old water filter that I had just replaced. When I pulled it from the trash and he saw the cap that I had taken off of the new one and put on the old one before discarding, they incorrectly assumed I put the new filter in with the cap on. I assume this is what led to the incorrect diagnosis of the issue. Not knowing that my issue was not fixed, I wrote them a check for $175 total, including the service fee. I was told that their card processing was down.When the technician left, I immediately opened the hatch to inspect the fix, only to find the issue had not been resolved at all. All the technician did before leaving was check that my fridge would dispense water, which it was already doing when I called them in. I was told that this was very unusual and that they would have a part "worst case scenario" the following Monday. They went on to cash my check same day.It is now one month past the date of this initial service. I had to check in with over six times over the course of the past month, because I continued to be strung along with no update. The 4th time I followed up (21 days later-12/28), they replied that they could come out the following Wednesday. Wednesday came and went. When I checked in that day to confirm a time, my text was not returned.I texted one final time to ask for either a resolution or a refund of the $175 that I paid, since my issue was not resolved. I did not receive a reply. I am completely baffled by this experience and would be perfectly happy if the repair had been carried out any of the 6 times I checked in. I would have much preferred that over a refund, and am always happy to appropriately compensate for services provided.Business response

On Oct 27th. I paid Able Appliance Repair $460 for a compressor for my ** refrigerator, which they should have contacted the company to see if it was under warranty. Which l found out after l paid for it, was under warranty. The part didn't arrive until Nov. 16th. They came out on Nov 17th to install it, l then had to pay $345 for installation which was also covered under warranty. The control panel was not in the box with the compressor, the tech said it would still work and they would order the panel. I waited 2 hours like he said before l plugged in the refrigerator. It did not work, did not cool down at all. I messaged him and told him it was not working. Have been waiting for them to come and fix it for almost 2 weeks. They said they would take care of it...have not. A rep from ** was supposed to be here this morning with the tech. Nothing, they will not reply to my texts or phone call. I am out $805 and still no refrigerator. They have said they will be up several times in the past week and have not showed. It feels like l am getting scammed. We do not do warranty work for *** The customer was informed by ** that they would reimburse her for the $805. No company in the area does warranty for ** and all claims are reimbursed by ** which **************** was informed by *** ** sent a defective part for the repair. We were told by ** that they would take care of the customer from here on. **************** has documentation from ** that they will reimburse her. I believe she is trying to collect from ** and us as well.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: l got a email from Able Appliance saying they were going to refund the money. And they said the reason it didn't work was because the control board was not sent with compressor. Said nothing about a defective part. They have lied over and over during this whole time. Said a rep from ** was coming out. ** said they don't do that. I have got no reimbursement from **. I still have no working refrigerator.

Called to get my washing machine fixed and he (*****) said flat rate of $90 to come out so the y did on October 2 and said he fixed it and when we went to use it it was doing the same thing so I can called back and he said they would out on October 9 but no show and wont answer the phone or texts and gave me no receipt said that he would email me one which didnt happenBusiness response

Our tech arrived at the residence and spoke with the husband of the complainant. The technician found that the garage floor was uneven and the washers footing adjustments were way off. The technician leveled and adjusted the washer. The technician also installed a tub spring support which the part was not charged to the customer. A service call fee is non refundable, and no labor was charged. The customers floor is uneven causing continuous issues. This customer is attempting to receive free serviceCustomer response
