On June 13, 2017, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding advertising and billing issues. Complaints allege that Primitive Survivors advertises a free flashlight promotion and consumers took advantage of the promotion. Later, consumers alleged they received an unauthorized charge in the amount of $14.95 for a Primitive Survivors membership they did not agree to.
On July 25, 2017, BBB received a response from Primitive Survivors. The company is working with BBB to eliminate the underlying cause of its pattern of complaints.
On January 27, 2020, Better Business Bureau recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding Primitive Survivors. Consumers allege they participated in an online survey, in person survey, or responded to an advertisement for a “free tactical flashlight”. Consumers report being asked to pay a shipping fee of $4.95. After entering their credit card information to cover the cost of shipping, consumers discovered they had been unknowingly billed $49.99 for a subscription service to Primitive Survivors.
On January 27, 2020, Better Business Bureau reached out to the business to respond to the consumer complaints. On February 05, 2020, the business responded. Mr. Guerrero blamed the advertising for the “free tactical flashlight” on rogue affiliates that were advertising on his website. Mr. Guerrero indicated that the business would be taking steps to “weed out” the rogue affiliates.
As of July, 2020, Better Business Bureau continued to receive complaints about Primitive Survivors and their advertising practices. On July 10, 2020, Better Business Bureau revoked the Accredited Business status of Primitive Survivors. They are no longer an Accredited Business with Better Business Bureau.
