In 12/2023, I learned that I was apparently charged nearly $9000 for a CAT scan & some labs while hospitalized with COVID back in 9/2021. For some reason, it was recorded as being an MRI, but I clearly remember it just being a CAT scan. My insurance paid for 90% of the imaging bill, leaving me to pay the remaining balance. Unfortunately, the billing department had some numbers in my contact info transposed, so I was never even notified that I owed a remaining balance until it had already been sent to collections. I immediately contacted McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center and was eventually routed through to **** in **************** She notified me of the data entry error on their part and apologized for the mix up. I was that they could pull it out of collections since it was so recent, but I'd have to agree to setup an payment plan on autopay. I agreed and proceeded to set up a $50/month payment plan and collections activity ceased. I specifically recall having to set up my payments as an autopay as part of the deal. I had to make my first 2 payments together on the phone upon setting up the auto payments. So my first payment(s) was $100. I assumed that the auto payments were going through as planned, and didn't find out otherwise until about a month later when the collection agency mailed me another threatening notice. I immediately called **** to find why my account was back with collections. She referred me over to billing again. I spoke to the same woman who I set the plan up with before. She said she'd call me back after looking into it, which she did. She told me the letter was sent in error and to crumple it up and throw it away and completely disregard it. So I did. Here are, nearly a year later, and I just found out my account was sent back to collections a week after it was pulled out of collections. In addition, I apparently owed a few hundred from a later date of service that was also just sent to collections despite me actively trying to pay it!
