A couple of years later and I still return to the memory of this incident with absolute horror. I really implore you to read through this experience before taking your pet in for anything other than something like a routine vaccination. If you feel this is a one-off customer story, please read some of the other 1-star reviews, many share the same sorts of details - all of which are inexcusable mistakes that happened during routine procedures. I nearly lost my dog to a neutering they 'attempted', and am still stunned by their response and handling of it.I brought my healthy, 14 month old golden retriever in to be neutered. He did have one un-descended t******* which would require going in abdominally. We spoke about this on the phone and in person and the clinic felt comfortable to proceed. The personality of everyone was nice upon arriving. As neutering/spaying is perhaps the most common procedure done by vets, I also could only trust their expertise or confidence in performing this kind of neutering. The vet called me afterwards to relay that my puppys heart rate had plummeted while he was under and they had to wake him up. I found out too after having two other vets verify his charts that they over-dosed the combination of meds he was on.Sweet Home also told me that his internal anatomy created challenges when they opened him up, but the other professionals I spoke to explained that this kind of thing isnt all that abnormal but just simply a task for specialists that all vets should know before ever going in, and not something they should realize after a catastrophic oops when the dog is open on a surgery table. When I picked him up, still fully intact but now with a surgical incision wound, they left it basically at not knowing what to do, nor being confident about anything that happened including why his heart rate dropped (it took two other vets minutes to put two and two together). They also only sent me away with 3 doses of pain medication and nothing else to care for the wound or keep sterile (**OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS HAPPENING, HOW DOES A VET MAKE THIS MISTAKE?!).The day itself cost me over $700, but before getting outside opinions that all corroborated each other I wasn't prepped with the knowledge of understanding just how irresponsible Sweet Home's actions were. Four days later I was ******* my dog to a different vet because he was covered in ****** puss with an aggressive infection that had formed due to the bad surgery. He ultimately was left with a 4 inch deep hole in his abdomen where the infection had to be scraped out to save him from getting sicker, it couldn't closed for a minute so that the current attending team can ensure he was fully rid of the infection.13 days after his procedure, I still had no explanation, response from my vet or the owners nor any requested x-rays (that they made me pay for day-of, they agreed 3x to give to me and then took weeks to do so and my dog was in emergency care he was so sick). It took me weeks to get my sweet boy out of the ***** and I was then instructed to wait at least one more year before attempting to neuter him again because of the trauma the procedure had physically done to him.To top it off, they informed the person who referred me to their clinic, who followed up on the incident out of concern as she has a dog training business that has used Sweet Home in the past, that emailing them in order to discuss concerns about the handling and lack of response was the best course of action. Ironically, they still had not emailed me back, the one financing an ordeal that at that point had tallied almost $3K. I also find that very dismissive of a long term client and/or individual who has driven business their way in the past.Stay away from this terrible place and irresponsible team.
