I brought my 2012 chrysler to r and j automotive when my transmission went out. He charged **** and replaced the transmission. I noticed it was making a strange noise and brought it back to him a day later. He claimed the seals on it were not right and he ordered another one. I got the second one installed and I noticed my car was bucking at certain speeds, which it never did before i got the transmission replaced. I brought it back to him and he claimed he put it on the diagnostic machine and its not the transmission, but the engine misfiring and id need a new engine. I found this out to be false when I brought it to another mechanic for a second opinion and was told that it is not the engine at all. The shop owner will not make it right when obviously it didnt have this problem before he worked on it. I'm hoping you can help me to get some sort of resolution and possibly get him to correct whatever he did to my car. Thank you so much for your time.Business response

Response to complaint filed for a 2012 Chrysler 200. vehicle was initially brought by tow truck to R&J Automotive, LLC unable to be driven due to transmission slip condition. There were codes for gear 3 inoperative code and line pressure above specified value. Installed used transmission to fit into customer's budget. After install test drove with no issues. 1 week later while in Washington transmission developed a leak and severe transmission pump noise. Thought initially it was due to possible bad seal replaced seals test drove, produced the same leak and noise. determined that the transmission was bad. ordered replacement transmission. test drove and no issues. also, at that time vehicle had a code for oil pressure switch circuit malfunction. replaced the oil pressure sending unit for the customer. also advised the customer that there was an ignition problem causing a no start condition. Customer acknowledged that yes indeed they have been having issue starting the vehicle but declined to have it repaired. 2 weeks went by, and customers father came by saying that there was a stutter to the car. I arranged to have car brought in a earliest convenience. Customer returned a few days later I scanned the vehicle with customer present, retrieved codes ***** throttle pedal position/switch E, p0018 camshaft/crankshaft position correlation bank 2, and p2533 ignition switch run/start position circuit. Found no codes associated with the transmission. Pulled up the Data information and showed the customer that the throttle body was only getting 2 volts a min requirement is no less that 5 volts. Also showed the customer that the bank 2 camshaft was 30 degrees out of phase. I informed the customer that with this scenario and these codes that it could very well be causing a shift condition and if this other stuff had been going on could have cause the original transmission to fail. I also advised the customer that it would more than like be more cost effective to replace the whole engine assembly versus repairing the heads timing chains and phasers. also advised the customer that the Chrysler 3.6l is problematic for camshafts to fail as well as timing components. I had also spoke with the customers father and explained what the possibles could be. And that I had no codes associated with a transmission problem. I told them i would clear the codes and reset the adaptive learning and if there was still a concern, I could do a secondary scan and see if the codex's had changed or if a code for the transmission presented itself but at that time could not make an informed ruling on what was going with transmission. They both agreed and said they would let me know how things were going. That was the last time I heard anything from the customer and her ******* ***** I received a email with this complaint. After receiving complaint, I talked with the father of the customer, and he had no knowledge there was a problem and had no knowledge of the complaint. And as far as being unwilling to help with the problem, that is a completely false statement. If there was a second opinion and another shop found something had popped up nobody ever attempted to contact me and there was absolutely no discussion about findings no phone calls and no stop in. I cannot correct a problem if i have zero knowledge of its existence. I have never once known about a problem with this family and not corrected it, the father also acknowledged that I have always went above and beyond to take care of any unforeseen issues.
