- Service or Repair Issues

On or about May 1st, 2024 - I left my 1999 ***** Tahoe at Wentworth ***** Dealership to figure out why my SUV does not have any heat blowing out of the ducts. On or about May 2nd, the service center stated the car was repaired and ready to be picked up. I never authorized any repairs beyond the inspection that was $170 dollars. As outlined under Oregon law (ORS 646A.482) a mechanic is required to issue a written estimate for the total repairs. If the cost is more than 10% higher than the estimate then another document must be issued. In addition, the customer must sign all newly issued documents with the fees clearly written out for the work. I never signed anything and I was never informed of the total cost. The dealership has violated State Law. The service center stated they flushed the heater core and claimed it was blowing at 95 degrees. As stated with Industry Standards - why would you attempt to repair a 25 year old heater core? The only reason is you want to charge $600 for the flush and then another $2000 dollars to replace the heater core. However, I pointed out at the time I left the dealership my Tahoe was blowing cold air. The service writer stated to wait until the engine is fully warmed up. On or about Saturday May 4th - I drove to over an hour away and the engine was fully warmed up. However, it was still blowing ice cold air. Clearly the repairs were not completed - they just took the money and left me to figure out it. This is Theft - I will be in contact with my legal team and the police. The dealership has willfully violated State law and thus subject to all penalties. Either pay the money back or this will get very expensive very quickly when my legal team files the lawsuit. Liability is very clear and this is a slam dunk court case.Business response

Customer reached out with a number of concerns via email to the ownership of the dealership on Saturday afternoon (5/4/24). In the email he said he was going to be getting a legal team involved and calling the police, which seemed like an odd place to start. I called him first thing Monday morning (5/6/24) and discussed a number of the points that he had made in his email. Even though a lot of what he was stating was not accurate/didn't make sense, given the quick escalation and absence of history with the customer I refunded him the entire amount he had paid and asked that he not return to the dealership. Attached is a copy of the receipt for the $558.70 we returned to him. If you would like further detail, please feel free to contact me at the dealership.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: everything I stated was accurate. In fact the dealership got the heater hoses installed incorrectly. Causing more expense to fix it some where else
Sincerely,
