I took three watches for battery replacements over the course of one year. Each battery replacment came with a 3 year warranty. The battery needed replaced in the citizen watch twice, and was replaced once according to my records. The battery needed replaced in the USW watch recently. I dropped off these two watches on 9.20.22 for replacement of the batteries under the 3 year warranty, at which time I was given a claim receipt that stated there would be no charge upon pickup. Upon pickup, 9.22.22, I was told I would have to pay for both batteries at $31.80, and that these new batteries would not have a 3 year warranty. Mr. Dale G****, the owner, stated that these were replaced before and that it was my watches causing the batteries to go bad. The USW watch had no previous replacements under the 3 year warranty according to my records. Mr. Dale G**** refused to honor the warranties, and insisted I pay for the two replacement batteries. When I went to hand him my credit card while being upfront and telling him I would dispute the charge, he then refused to allow me to pay for the batteries, that should have been under warranty to begin with. Instead, he told me I had two options: Either give him back the watches so he could take out the batteries, or he would call the authorities on me if I walked out with my watches. We went back-and-forth several times as I tried to pay for these two batteries, but he kept refusing my credit card payment. Finally, I had no choice but to give him back the 2 watches so that he could remove the batteries, and he did. This experience has been so upsetting to me, as Mr. G**** made it out like I was a thief, threatening to turn me into the authorities, while I was only trying to claim what I had the legal rights to claim: 2 replacement batteries under warranty. I am requesting a refund for $31.80, the original price of the batteries with a 3 year warranty, and an apology from G****. Thank you.Customer response

Dear BBB:
I hope this finds you well. I have not heard anything back from my complaint I filed below. In looking over the records, I noticed only three receipts are on file. I uploaded a total of five receipts.
I’ve attached to this email the two missing receipts that I believe were not received, and the receipt from another watch battery repair shop from when I tried getting another battery installed in the USW watch on Oct 6, 2022.
In addition, when I took the USW watch to another repair shop to get the battery installed, the man at this different shop informed me that the watch does not work even with a new battery installed.
I never wanted Mr. Dale G**** to remove the batteries on these watches, as I believed he would do something to them to render them unworkable. I don’t know if he did anything to the USW watch to make it unworkable, but I find it very upsetting that it does not work now even when another new battery was installed.
To have Mr. Dale G**** demand that I hand over the watches so that he can remove the batteries, which I was trying to pay for to avoid him messing with the watches again, is still very upsetting to me.
Please let me know where this complaint is as of now.
The USW watch was a retirement gift that cannot be replaced.

I hope you are well.
I just had to replace the two-tone watch battery again, and this should have been under the three year warranty for the battery. I tried again to have a battery put in my USW watch, but this second jewelry store also said the USW watch does not work anymore. I’ve attached to this email the receipts, and an estimate for repairing my USW movement.
I don’t know what Mr. Dale G**** did to this USW watch when he took out the battery. He threatened to call the authorities on me if I walked out of the store with my watches, even while I had in my possession a receipt that stated I owed nothing for the battery replacements, because he refused to allow me to pay for the installed batteries. I did not want him taking out the batteries because I believed he would do something to render the watches inoperable. I haven’t tried getting the batter replaced in the citizen’s watch, only the USW watch, so I don’t know if that watch will work or not.
I am still upset by Mr. Dale G****’s demands and threats. The USW watch is a retirement gift from my union. I will have this repaired, and will expect Mr. Dale G**** to pay for the repair bill.
Please let me know where this complaint is at this time. I am prepared to pursue to this further if I have to.
