was referred by my realtor. They informed realtor it was 100 dollars for certification of chimney. When they came to my house they charged me 150 plus 160 cleaning fee. Then they provided me with a bill for 4700 dollars. When I go to basement I realized they broke a furnace pipe that was services the day before and certified. They didn't tell me anything. I had to get furnace people back out and thank God they only charged me for the part. They told me to submit bill to chimney people. This people up sale you and then break stuff.. horrible.. I had another chimney company come out and was charge 1600 only.... I want payment for my replacement pipe they broke. Total $205 dollars.Business response

We were called out to do a Level II chimney inspection in order to give a Certification for the sale of a house. All venting systems must be inspected with a camera/light/mirror to see if there is anything wrong. When we started to inspect the fire place, we found it was too dirty to scan and brought this to her attention. We gave her the price to do the cleaning & scan. The customer watched us do the scan and saw the issues inside the chimney. My tech also inspected the furnace flue by removing the pipe from the wall to check for cleanliness, then reinstall it when they were done, then reinstall the pipe back to the chimney. They did not see any water or damage done or anything on the floor.
We were out there on the third of March and on the ninth of March we received an email stating they had to have someone come out and replace a valve on the heater.
I feel that if there was an issue with something we had done, she should have called our company right away and gave us a chance to correct any problem. CK valves are supposed to be tested periodically and can go bad. I don't what happened, and since it was six days later, I don't believe it was our tech. However, we have been overwhelmed with work and I should have addressed this issue right away.
Also, I went over the paperwork and noticed that she may have been overcharged. Normally if we do a chimney cleaning and scan at the same time, we charge $149.99 for the cleaning and $50.00 for the scan if we can't certify the chimney. My tech should have just charged her for cleaning and scan. However, if it would have passed, we would have charged full price for both. I am willing to refund the $100.00 since we were not able to certify the chimney.
