I am the homeowner of *** ******* ** *********** ** ***** who hired Contracting company Shannon Staley and Sons to perform a renovation. The initial conversation reviewing the terms of the bid and subsequent contract were agreed upon that termination by either party was possible for any reason. It was also agreed that at each phase of the contract (Demo, Framing, MEP, etc) was to be signed off by me before entering the next phase. This was so that if anything was not to my approval at the end of each phase, and no resolution was possible, the contract would be terminated. They have $33K of my money and had approval through framing, which totals significantly less than $33K. The contract has been terminated and they are no longer the holder of the building permit as contractor. They are refusing to refund the overages that I have sent them and are threatening a lien on my property. Their contract does not contain all legal requirements, including a work start and end date, and should not even be enforceable. Yet, they are claiming that I owe them for the entire $152K+ that the bid for the entire project through to a passed final occupancy inspection was for. I have stated that I am willing to pay for the work that has been done, and done correctly, in the demo and framing phases that was approved and nothing beyond that.Business response

To whom it may concern,
Shannon Staley and Sons received a written complaint on Thursday, May 2nd, at 4:19 PM. Upon receiving the complaint SSS sent an email to our client who filed the complaint on Thursday, May 2nd, at 4:22 PM, notifying her that the complaint was received. Prior to that email, a phone call with the client had already been scheduled for Friday, May 3rd, at 10:00 AM to discuss resolution to the contract discrepancy.
The client was very professional on the call with myself on Friday, May 3rd. The client's expectations of how to terminate the existing contract differs from Shannon Staley and Sons. The client and I agreed that Shannon Staley and Sons will email the client no later than Monday, 5/6, with proposed next Action Step towards resolution.
Shannon Staley and Sons has been prompt and consistent in its communication with the client prior to her filing the complaint on May 3rd. In the 3 days prior to the complaint being field SSS had communicated to the client with 4 separate emails, as well as scheduled and executed a conference call with multiple team members the afternoon of May 3rd, a couple hours prior to the complaint being filed.
SSS will continue its prompt and organized communication until the contract is terminated.
