We signed a contract with this business on 2/16/22 for the installation of an in-ground pool with electrical hook up and cement patio. The start date of as 5/16/22 with estimated completion on 5/31/22. This business worked on and off during June and July. As of 8/4, they removed all equipment and supplies and have never contacted us again about completion. We have paid $61,000 out of $70,000 cost. The pool frame, vermiculite, and liner are installed. We are missing electrical work, pump, chlorinator, filter, heater, cement, electrical connection, and additional plumbing. This company seems to be a scam. Multiple complaints online of similar issues under business owner Carmine Diulus and company listed above as well as under DK Home Improvements. As of today's date, a pool specialist and certified electrician said if the project is not completed before weather breaks, they would guess that Carmine has completed less than $20,000 worth of work and stolen around $40,000 from us. Another pool company estimates 30-40k to come complete this project. The current status of pool is getting damaged and could not withhold the elements of weather over the winter months. Project needs completed asap. The entire project was supposed to take 8-14 business days. The pool was ordered as a kit and there is no reason why Carmine is holding our parts and not finishing. We were told all parts are available to finish the pool. Our desired resolution is to have project complete and pay final payment.

In November of 2021, I hired Carmine Diulus (American In-home Remodeling) for two projects at my house. The first one involved building a brick wall inside the basement of the house that would reinforce the patio above, which would then be able to be repaired/replaced. This project was estimated at $34,000 of which Diulus requested half or $17,000. The second project involved demolition of my current detached garage and pouring a new concrete pad in preparation for a new garage. This project was estimated at $14,900. At this time, $4250 was given to Diulus for materials and labor of the first project. It was then was mutually agreed upon that I would hear from Diulus when the weather broke in March/April of 2022 to complete the inside portion of project #1 (supporting wall in basement). In February of 2022, Diulus was given $12,750 via check in order to meet his request of half of the original estimate ($34,000) for project #1. According to the signed contract, the only portion that is complete is the foundation wall in the basement. Diulus did then, as mentioned above, return in March of 2022 to build the supporting wall inside the basement. This was complete to my satisfaction and took approximately two weeks. They also disassembled some of the front patio/yard to utilize some of the landscaping block in the retaining wall/French drain that would be built next to the new cement pad in back. I The second project was estimated at $14,900 of which half was paid via check on 06/06/22 and the other half on 06/11/22. According to the signed contract with Diulus, there are unfinished jobs that need to be addressed. After the new concrete pad was poured (unfinished because it was not sealed, needs expansion joints, and concrete forms were left on), it was determined that building a retaining wall/French drain next to it was not in the original estimate. Diulus was given an additional $3,000 to complete this, as per his request.

Here is the remaining portion of our complaint that we couldn't fit in the text box

They used landscaping stone from the front and new landscaping stone I paid for separately. The wall is only partially complete.

It should also be noted that the debris from project #2 was left on the lot next to our property and was never cleaned up, as per the original contract. The French drain is also unfinished, as the pipe needs to be placed (currently on the ground in the neighboring lot) and gravel needs to be purchased and added.

As of today, I have not seen Diulus since the end of June. I attempted contact numerous times, and this was met with no response. He has made several recent promises to right some of the unfinished things, but he has never followed through with any of it.

      Respectfully,
      **** ******* *** ********

We signed a contract with American in home remodeling back in January to install our pool. They started on May 2, they worked for 3 weeks, then called to tell me a part was on back order & they couldn’t do anymore. They dug a huge trench in my yard on May 26 to run electricity & gas, which they still haven’t done yet, & the trench is still there. I spoke with the manufacturer, the part has been in stock since June 29 & was delivered to the distributor on July 13. I was promised they would be out by July 20 to finish the pool & it would take about a week. On July 20th Carmine called me (after I had to reach out) to tell me he needed more money or he couldn’t get the back ordered part. The total of the pool is $90,000, We have paid him $78750 & have not even half the work done. I gave him the money requested, reluctantly & he then told us on July 22 his rep at the distributor is no longer there & they’re having trouble locating our cover. Today July 26, he’s telling us the part is too big to pick up & can’t be delivered until Aug 8 now. It’s been excuse after excuse after delay. The work they orginally did isn’t even holding up, it’s been leaking. I am not confident they will even return to finish the job after we paid them 87%. All I want is this pool finished.
