On the week of 5/9/22, after he surveyed the job, we were given a contract by Kurczewski Painting Inc committing to prep and paint the exterior soffits, rake-boards, siding, window frames, window sashes, both side and front porches, doors and frames, paint all wood surfaces of our three-story brick home and two story brick barn. He would reglaze windows, replace broken glass. For this service we were to pay $8,500.00 ($6,000 for the house and $2,500.00 for the barn). In addition, we gave him an added $500 to replace 7 broken windows and replace 18 of wood siding to our back porch (a total of $6,500. We purchased the windows and wood siding. Kurczewski began the job on May 12 and stated the job would take approximately two months. At the end of June, Kurczewski said he had another job and he would return the 2nd week of August, but stated he would finished the house before he left and complete the barn when he returned. He didnt finish our house. Left unfinished were the side porch, 7 windows and our front porch. We had not heard from him so I sent him a text on August 25 asking when he was returning. He responded he would be here the next day. He returned August 26. I attempted to discuss the job again, he refused. On August 26 he stated he was done, wouldnt returning, he abandoned the job. At dispute are: the level of prep he provided (see images) and performance in painting (see images). We tried several times to discuss with him his substandard prep and his painting. We expected him to perform as he claimed clean, quality professional painting and he did not. We cannot find another painter. I am left to complete the job and have purchased materials, equipment to complete the job. I have not yet purchased the paint; I am still prepping. Kurczewski has not attempted to resolve our issues. We are asking that he return $3,132 (included is $207 materials, $85 per gallon paint @ 5 gallons) that he was already paid to complete the house section of the job.
