      My family stayed at this campground from 5/31-6/2 in one of their patio sites. My children used sidewalk chalk in the campsite in a small area that would wash off easily. We were charged $50 in a damage fee which was not outlined in any of their policies or receipts from the original reservation charges. I inquired with the owner and he stated it took his team over 2 hours to clean and never notified me of the issues prior to charging my credit card. I never signed nor authorized that charge.

      I am in receipt of a complaint lodged under ID #********.  The complainant was indeed charged a damage fee for sidewalk chalk used on our deluxe patio sites.  Damages to property in any fashion are the responsibility of the customer and they are charged accordingly.  In this case, the extra time to clean the site, which required pulling a person off another chore in order to turn the site around for the next customer, was considered beyond are normal cleanup.  If the customer thought the cleanup was easy to do they should have done it before departing, thus leaving the site in the condition it was when they arrived.  It is impossible to list every scenario where customers are charged for damages.  The charge stands in this case.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      At the very least I should have been notified of the issue prior to the charge. Since there is no way to list every potential charge there is also no way for me as the consumer to anticipate and issue that has never been an issue at any prior establishment. If anything the potential damage fee should be listed in your policies which it is not. This is an unprofessional action and one that requires better care.
