I have an Aflac Accident Advantage plan with this company, Brian Patten and Associates. I first contacted them in the fall of 2023 in regard to cancelling my plan due to divorce. I was told that I would need a copy of my divorce decree in order to cancel my plan. On 1/2/24, I sent my cancellation form via email to **************************************. On 1/9/24, an employee from Brian Patten, Shane U*****, contacted me via email saying "Unfortunately, we are only able to cancel this plan during open enrollment. The Aflac Accident Plan is taken out of your pay on a pre-tax basis. The IRS regulates pre-tax plans and they state that if it’s not Open Enrollment, you must have a qualifying event to cancel a pre-tax plan. Can you confirm if any of the events listed below have happened within the past 30 days? If not, then you will need to wait until Open Enrollment to cancel this plan." I wrote Shane back and said that yes, I had gotten divorced and could send a copy of my final divorce decree. He emailed back and said that if I am able to send documentation over then they will get the cancellation processed through Aflac. So, I sent my divorce decree copy via email. I had not received any confirmation that this was received or that the plan was cancelled. I contacted this same person, Shane U*****, via email AGAIN on 1/17/24 asking if my plan is yet cancelled and if it will still be taken out of my bi-weekly paycheck. No reply. No phone number listed with Shane U*****'s email address to contact. On 1/22/24 I AGAIN contacted this email address asking for confirmation that they received my divorce decree copy and were in the process of cancelling my plan. NO RESPONSE. I have no other way to get a hold of this company. This plan takes $20.46 out of my bi-weekly paycheck and I have had 2 paychecks so far this year; therefore, I would like refunded $40.92 along with my Aflac plan cancelled.Business response

The customer's plan has been cancelled and a refund is in process. Brian Patten & Associates has no control on how long it takes Aflac to cancel a plan and process a refund.Thank you,
