On Dec. 18,2021 a gift card for $150 was purchased for Doylestown Escape Room. The gift card states that it is valid until December 18,2023. When I went online to book a date the website said they are permanently closed. I called the phone number and it is disconnected. I tried contacting them via email and I got an automatic response that the business is closed. I was never contacted by Doylestown Escape Room prior to their closure, no did I ever see anything about them closing on the news, papers, or social media. I would like to be reimbursed for the $150 we paid.Initial Complaint

In March 2020, we booked a birthday party with this business. They were paid $325.00 for the event. On March 15th, 2020, we received an email from the business that they were shutting down temporarily due to the governor's order because of Covid-19. We were given a credit voucher (Voucher # ******) to re-schedule the event once the business re-opened. I immediately requested a refund because we had no idea how long the shutdowns were going to last. I was told that the business has "always had a no refund policy" & that they would not issue a refund. I emailed again to request a refund & was again denied by owners, Jack & Heather D********** I was not comfortable with this resolution at the time & emailed again to explain that I understood, but that I had concerns about them re-opening. I was told that this business was the family's only source of income & that they were committed to re-opening as soon as it was safe & legal to do so. They suggested we check their ******** page to learn about re-opening dates. We would check periodically, but nothing was ever posted. In January 2022, we started trying to get in touch with the business owners to re-book our cancelled event. We left several voicemails & emailed numerous times. We never got a response. After a few attempts at contact, the business website disappeared. Their voicemail message changed & their email started sending an automatic message that said they are not accepting bookings at this time. We drove by the business, which has been closed & after some internet searching, it would seem the owners are no longer PA residents. I have given them several chances to do the right thing by refunding our initial payment. It isn't right that they kept our money & skipped town.
