We signed a contract in Mar/23 with **** Anthony (first point of contact) to have a driveway, front walk, lead walk with2 steps with slants, expand front stoop with new steps. *** was to begin in June, made numerous calls ,never happened till Oct/23 only when we called and wanted our deposit back. From then on weve talked with **** Anthony. The day before the job started I walked through the whole job with ****. Told him specifically about how the front steps should be. Told him about ******************* next to lead walk and he flat out said No, Im not doing that. He never measured anything. **** never wrote slants in contract. I was willing to let that go, the stoop and front step were the most important part to get right. When I got home and saw the width of the front steps i was shocked! The steps were to be 5(60) wide as stated in the contract , NOT 45. Thats a 15 difference! Contacted ****, he said Sorry, I missed that detail. To compensate he wanted to seal our driveway next year, a $600 value. I told him I would rather have the $600 cash. Back and forth we go he wants to know what would make me happy and I told him to have the front steps redone. He doesnt want to do that. Last contact was 12/14/23 , **** said he would refund $600, but because my husband told him everything looks good hes confused why were upset. Yes, we both said the CONCRETE looks good, BUT THE *** IS NOT DONE ACCORDING TO OUR CONTRACT. **** came to collect his last payment my husband pointed out the width of steps being wrong, sewer pipe in wrong place, down spout on garage is in wrong place and doesnt line up with ground pipe. Said he would come back to fix pipe, never did. The complaint is the front steps 15 difference in width. It changed the whole aesthetic of the front of the house.it was IMPORTANT TO US to have wide steps. I really feel ************* us $1860 the price quoted for the step and stoop, Ill settle for $600. His whole attitude about this is like its no big deal.

May 2, 2023. I had the company put in a new driveway. The excavator digging up my driveway hit the gutter on the eave of my home & dented it. I have called many, many times. I was told they did come out & look at the damage & they contacted Leaf Guard to get an estimate. Leaf guard came out 9/18/23 to examine damage. I have contacted Mark Anthony many times after that & was told that Leaf Guard wasn't sending them the estimate, but receptionist Natalie would pursue them. I was told that they would definitely get back to me before Thanksgiving & they did not. I have since called numerous times to only get an answering machine & no one calls back now. I would like my gutter repaired as I think this damage is out of the normal wear & tear like landscaping damage.

In March of 2022 I Recieved a estimate to have front steps and sidewalk and back patio done. I was told by mark at that time it would be done in June 2022. After several texts and phone calls the job was started in late july 2022. The front steps and sidewalk were done . We are very happy with that. They then poured the wrong color cement for the patio.we were promised it would be corrected using a colored sealer. After several more texts they came in late august and applied the sealer. It looked fine. Mark then called and told me he was waiving the last payment we owed him for all our trouble. I NEVER asked for this. He offered. I only wanted the job completed correctly. I did not expect it to deteriorate After only 1month it was chipping and coming off. I notified mark who promised as soon as the weather permitted they would be back to “make it right”. Fast forward -2023 they never came back. After several more texts and promises from mark to come back I had to accept that he was NOT coming back after waiting the entire summer of 2023. he kept saying it was the weather that wasn’t right.. It is now a complete mess with chips and bare spots all over the entire patio. It will need to be completely redone .I Recieved an estimate of $8000.00 to have this done. I can’t believe a contrator who is still advertising what a great job his company does would do this. It is terrible . He shouldn’t be able to do this to a paying customer. How can he sleep at night? I have to look at this terrible mess every time I walk out the door. Anyone who has come to my house has seen this and are also aware of what this company did. I want anyone who is considering him for a job to know how he treats his customers and is mot a man of his word.

In February of 2022 we went in to a contract with this company Mark A****** Concrete based on recommendations from other people. we signed a contract and a deposit of $1600.00 was made for a driveway and some sidewalk replacement. We were told late May early June for work to start. Well that never happened calls to the company and emails were never returned. I finally got a message 8/26 of sorry but this and that came up. On 9/7 the driveway was finally started with excavation the concrete was not poured until 9/14. Our major problem was water pooling in the apron well it rained and we still have water pooling in the apron which is a safety hazard., now we did express our thoughts on lack of customer service with the BBB and he saw it and told us that he would fix it but the review must come down. I tried to reach him with getting the issue resolved but received no response at all in regards to the water issue. As. I was working outside one afternoon I noticed the concrete is cracking and have reached out to him about this also and called his office and spoke with Natalie and asked that he call me on the cracking concrete and again nothing. I have all the text messages I have sent and photos. We only saw Mr. A****** twice and that was to receive payment from us. There is a 5 year warranty against improper or inferior workmanship. Im really concerned about someone falling or slipping on ice this winter and the cracking concrete after only 2 months. Also I have talked to 2 other families who had work done by them on **** ****** *** ** ******* * ******** ****** ** **** and the lack of customer service was also and issue with emails and calls to the company. We hope to get some resolution to this matter as the winter months are upon us. Thank You **** *******

In regards to scheduling, due to weather conditions, we had an unusually later start to the working season than is typical and were running about a month behind from the start. In our line of work, we cannot schedule exact dates and times like a doctors appointment because we cannot control weather patterns and even how long a job will take to complete is still an estimate as it is not uncommon to run into unforeseen complications. We strive to give each customer the attention they deserve to be happy and satisfied with their project which is evident in our numerous reviews touting the quality of work and attention detail.
Between continuous unpredictable weather or even delays on customer’s jobs that were on the list before ** *******, delays occurred, but are just part of the nature of the business. Every business that works outside will continue to be subject to varying weather conditions which most of our customers understand would obviously delay jobs and further put us behind. This was conveyed to ** ******* no less than 4x giving him updates as we went.

Once the job was started ** ******* was adamant about creating a lip between the road and his driveway as the roadway is crowned forcing road water back into the existing driveway. We told him we would be limited in doing so as the height of the garage lip was almost level with the roadway creating a very flat profile. As a reference, industry standard for slope is appx 1” per 4’ but on his driveway it was over 3.5x flatter at 1” in every 14’. This fact was also conveyed to the owner during the demolition and set up of the job. This is a fact that cannot be changed at the point of install as it is dictated by home builder at the height he built the house and the streets department as the continued to top over the existing road. There are times we can add drain or a swale but neither of these options were applicable in his situation. Adding to this, during the pour ** ******* was insistent we create more of a lip at the roadway even as we tried to explain this was not possible because of the slope issue.

While having a small place that holds water is not ideal there are also limitations to getting water to run. I have driven by on several instances after it rains hard and it is a very small area of water and is dry within a short period of time after a rainfall. In regards to the crack, when it was brought to my attention that this was a potential issue, without hesitation I told him we would be out to try and repair. During this time we experienced several days in a row of rain and noted before any repairs could be done we needed the concrete to be dry for the epoxy to properly adhere. In this interim ** ******* took to the BBB review board to make patently false accusations and accuse me of lying and not standing behind our work even though I had expressly told him we would address the matter. To make matters worse, he started slandering us to other neighbors whom we had worked for to try to stir up strife as he even stated in the complaint. In addition, he started harassing me with text messages and calling at all hours of the day and night in an attempt to bully us into getting us to do what we had already agreed that we would do.
As an employer, at this point the objection was not in the warranty or repair but in sending our employees into a hostile situation with a customer who is clearly unhinged and has an axe to grind. If the goal was only to have the repair made it would have been done next nice day as I had told him would be the case. With the number of jobs we do, I’m aware that issues can occur from time to time although we go to great lengths to mitigate these situations and deliver a high quality product. Part of this process is taking care of any  issues as soon as possible but there has to be a level of civility in any working relationship and that line had long been crossed by the owner.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I tried to send photos but may have to do separately. In response to his comment on harassment at no time did i call him in the evening or text him after hours all call made to the office were made during business hours.I have every text message from him. I spoke to Natalie on the phone in July in regards to when the work would be started and to her again on 11/11/2022 in regards to the large crack outside the man door in the garage. I have one voice mail from Mark on 8/17/2022 in regards to the delay weather and him taking on commercial jobs. we had a total of 19 days of rain from 6/1 to 9/1 2022 which can be checked. In response to me stirring up strife I did talk to 2 people who had work done which are not my neighbors who expressed the lack of customer service they received from the company in no way did I cause strife this was from them when I asked who did the work.  Response to the street with asphalt building up our road was milled and repaved in summer of 2021 that’s why we waited to have the driveway way completed so there is no excessive buildup in the road and it is sloped away from the apron. on friday 9/23/2022 Mark had read the review my wife had posted and sent messages regarding it and why we expressed the apron was our biggest problem and he said earlier we will see what we can do not I fix it. He then proceeded to say I’ll fix it but the review must come down that’s a quote from him i have the text. As far as an axe grind as he called it I’m just a consumer who had a job done that I feel is not right the driveway is perfect the apron still holds water and no a small puddle i have a permanent stain from water in my new concrete and ice in the winter which anyone knows concrete and water don’t do well. We feel there is no customer service as you can see in his response to the complaint filed on 11/17/2022 he only responded 6 months later when his accreditation was suspended. Thank You **** will try to get you some photos. Have a Great day

      Regards,

      **** *******
