Writing negative reviews for small business’s is not something I find joy in, however, this one feels necessary. My husband and I adopted a 16 week old dachshund puppy and quickly realized we needed some help with his training. Puptopia was recommended to me by a coworker; we figured why not try out a new small business? A 3 course/hour lesson with **** came with the large price tag of $350. We figured if she was really the “best”, it would be worth it. In total we barely received 2 out of the 3 total hours of training, and most of the time we did receive was spent with **** aggressively trying to sell her business’s other programs/classes. The only thing she really taught our dog/us was how to help him learn his name. **** was unable to help us achieve success, but another instructor in the area was. Although we were disappointed and felt ripped off by her “private lessons”, we still opted to support the business by taking our dog to playcare once a week. We were told to only bring him on Thursdays because he was too small for other days. Today, rather than waiting until the end of the business day, I get a call nearly demanding I come pick up my dog because he is too rambunctious (he weighs 9 pounds) for the day we were told to bring him on… I obeyed their wishes and picked up my dog immediately. Upon pickup, **** felt it was an appropriate time to try to sell me on their other services - when they had just failed for the second time. Not a chance they would be getting a third opportunity. And finally, while we were simply going to accept our losses and walk away, I get a nasty email from **** (the business owner!) suggesting we surrender our dog into her care. Our dog is well loved, safe, happy, and cared for, and to assume otherwise is extremely offensive and disrespectful. ****’s personal opinions on how you choose to train your dog come into play - so be weary if you don’t follow their/her exact methods.

**********************-Berbs, you were given the training needed to dial back Blues aggression or else he wouldnt have been allowed in our daycare. We find it puzzling that the private lessons concluded in Nov 2022 yet you chose to write this review in May 2023 after we chose to cut ties with you. You stated you needed training in Nov. 2022 for "aggression and territory issues" and were given tips and training to guide and manage your very young dog with your cats at our private lessons. We were not hired for obedience and you agreed to the lessons and price. Finding another trainer is certainly your choicehowever we do not use aversive methods in our training and I hope you get the education needed in the future to understand why an eCollar should not be used on an 8 lb dog. We enjoyed having Blue in daycare and advised after 7 visits he could be moved to the more energetic dog days. That is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing. He is confident enough to hold his own with the bigger dogs and it would allow him to expel more energy. I did not appreciate your continuous rude tone to several of my staff members over the course of 4 months (of which we have records and video). Your constant comments about how "we should accommodate you with our hours and our pricing is too expensive is completely unreasonable. Finally, crumpling up papers and throwing them on our lawn as you stormed out and took it out on your dog is a juvenile way to behave. That was the last straw. The way you choose to behave and train your dog is not something we support, so we stand by the decision to cut ties.
