I contracted Salt Kettle Designs to build and install a custom mudroom locker and a custom entertainment center. Contract was signed and a deposit was given to ***** and *** (owners) in January 2022, with the job to be completed in June 2022. Owners never followed through on the renderings, and never followed through on scheduling the install date. We reached out in June to make sure things were still on track and we were told install would be in July. In July we were told that install would be pushed back to August, because the owner had a heart attack. In August we were told install had to be again pushed back because Salt Kettle needed to move into a new space and install would be the first week of October. At this time, I asked for a picture of the build, to which I was told, its all in pieces because they install on-site. I said well show me the pieces, and I was told they couldn't right now. I said well I'll come to the shop and take a look, to which I was told, ok, but *** would follow-up with a good time to come. Never received a follow-up. First week of October, Salt Kettle again asked to delay the install. At this time, I requested our deposit back. After some pleading from owners, they agreed to return the funds by the end of the month. I followed up weekly to ask if they were still on track to return deposit. I received no response. One day before the the deposit was to be returned, I receive a note from owner with a sob story about how she's had health issues, the deposit money was spent months ago on materials and labor, and she is attempting to refund us out of her own pocket, but has not gotten the Ok from her financial advisor. The funds still have not been returned.

We hired ***** and ************************* of Salt Kettle Designs to do a custom built bench in our home. They came to our house 2/05/23. We agreed to give deposit of $1,219 on that day. We followed up with them often and they would dodge updates and requests for pictures. I told them on 5/22 that I wanted my money back and they said project was 90% complete and would deliver on 6/1. Followed up a few times and ***** gave excuses and showed me one picture that was not near complete. 6/1 that night I texted that we would not be doing business with them and she texted me back that my deposit was nonrefundable. I have since looked up many reviews of this company where similar complaints have been posted. I have a proposal we agreed upon and I also have multiple text message conversations as proof of timeline.

This owner failed to produce a corrected entertainment piece after her husband failed to build the unit to fit the specifications I provided. Owner kept ignoring customers text to see when item would be completed (over a year passed) and still did not receive piece. Owner then claimed she has Covid, had to move, family health issues, and then her own health issues which kept delaying the work. Owner reached out in Nov 2022 asking if I wanted to move forward with end tables and she was finally all settled and up and running. I was not prepared and settled on color nor $ right before holiday as I found it odd that she kept trying to follow up with me now. I’ve had to be the initiator to find out when my corrected entertainment stand and end tables would be done and delivered with either no response or dates to which she failed to produce items and kept delaying delivery. After she assure me on 3/14 all items would be delivered on 3/18 between 11-12 I needed to speak with her and not just leave it to text. Take emailed on 3/17@ just about 8pm only after my two text messages earlier that to determine delivery. She stated she was going to refund my deposit for the end tables and part ways. After reading prior reviews now, This owner has had multiple counts of complains. She scams customers for their money for small jobs to pay for larger projects. I have email and text that state she would refund me my $ on 3/18. And she has not refunded my money. At 7:16pm her story changed again and now I won’t see my “refund until Monday 3/20”. All transactions noted in text and invoices. Since I never received the correct TV center I want my full refund on that as well, because what she produced what not what I designed to have built. This company and lady is a scammer.

On October 4, 2021 I paid ***************************** (owner of Salt Kettle Designs) $550 via ***** as a down payment for a project. On October 1, 2021 ***** and *** came to my home to provide me with a quote and discuss a project to remodel current built-ins in my family room. I was provided a proposal slip, handwritten with our agreed upon project and price. It indicated I ***** ***** the $550 to confirm project. The proposal/quote slip was numbered #******.I was told by ***** and *** the project would be completed in 6-8 weeks. Since payment in October it was rescheduled 8 times over 6 months time. On March 9th, 2022 I finally asked for a refund of my down payment due to the constant rescheduling. I was told via text message from ******* phone that I would receive my refund 30 days from then. It is now past the 30 day **** and I have yet to receive anything from Salt and Kettle. Although the invoice said no refunds they clearly stated the would provide a refund as they did not complete my project. If they do not provide refund I will move forward legally as they have basically stolen my money.
