We bought a package at gettysburg battlefield resort. When we bought this was told membership fee would stay the same and we could cancel anything time. After only using this 3 times we called to cancel only to be told we couldn't and would have to be contacted by the exit department. While after months of calling and waiting no response still. Everytime I call they say we have to send email to the exit department and still nothing. They continue to call and are not nice about the pass due bill .I tell them I'm waiting for the exit department and they say we will send email still nothing. These people lie and make you believe anything just to get your money .Than after not even going to this place in years they send a covid fee bill. They tell you everything to make its sound like it's the best thing ever and you may cancel anytime. I just want these people to cancel this membership and contact me like they said.Business response

I'm sorry to hear you are frustrated. I do show that the Exit Department did attempt to contact you, according to our records. We apologize for missing you. I will be more than happy to reach out to you to discuss your cancellation request. The COVID Fee that you received was an optional payment and we did refund that back to you. For your maintenance fees, your contract does state that they are subject to increase. We bought a package with Gettysburg Battlefield resorts and then upgraded our package two years later. We paid over $5000 for a package and when purchased was told by Jeff the salesman we could get out of the agreement or put our agreement on hold if needed and would not have to pay the maintenance fees while on hold but could not use the resort which was fine by us. We sold our camper in 2017 and tried to cancel and put our agreement on hold only to be told that we were lied to and our contract didn’t allow us to put it on hold. We got stuck going to a meeting to find out about cancelling only to be told that we would have to pay 10,000 dollars to get out of the agreement. We were also told our maintenance fees would never go up and we would not be charged any other misc fees. Our maintenance fees have gone up and we received a bill for COVID fee when we haven’t been in the campground in the campground for over 3 years. I don’t care about what was paid, stop lying to us and let us out of this agreement. This company is a scam!Business response

We are trying to cancel our membership with no response from sales rep or anybody from company . we have sent letters and emails requesting written confirmation of our membership cancellation request to avoid autopay payments. we were told we have a right to cancel.Business response

TRA is a complete and total scam. They lied to me in order to secure a sale. I was misled many different ways and told many lies. For example, I was told there were no seasonal spots at their camp grounds; which I have proven to be a lie. They are fine with lying and deceiving customers in order to secure their timeshare payments. They are now raising maintence fees with no transparency or explanation of PPP funding. When I tried to pay off my note, prior to any interest charges, I was given the run around in an attempt to be sure I was charged accrued interest. I had to call every payment processing facility, AZ and NC, in order to be sure my payment would be processed and I would not assume the interest charges.They lie about availability of spots, cabins and how many spots are reserved for other programs.I would love to know why their kick back is to camper companies or sales events to further enable their fraud. I will be contacting a lawyer to attempt to recoup some of my wasted money on this scam. The sad part is, a high percentage of seniors are/have been buying RVs and they are targeting those people with this money laundering time share.Business response

I signed up under the impression that I could camp whenever I wanted and that you could cancel the membership with no questions asked. Since COVID has hit my family later than others I have been struggling to keep a roof over my family's head. I called the company several times to cancel my membership and have been told that they will not cancel the membership. Their exact wording when I told them I could not afford groceries for my 4 children was " hopefully your situation changes before your payment is due in a couple days". The few times I have tried to book a camping trip I have been told there is no availability. The 3 time I have been able to go it was good. I was told when signing up that I could cancel at anytime "you owe us nothing and we owe you nothing". I asked the sales representative several times about this because our country was in an uncertain point and I was unsure of what the future would bring. He assured me that I could get out of this membership. Yet here I am stuck paying for something I can not use and can not afford.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
when I signed up ******* (the person that talked me into signing up) assured me that I could cancel at anytime. His exact words were "you owe us nothing and we owe you nothing". I currently have COVID and am trying to care for my family of 6. My two daughters have mental illness (one was just diagnosed and we are working out medication) and my other son has ceberal palsy. I was told I could cancel at anytime for any reason and I want to cancel with me owing nothing and you owe me nothing. I'm tired of being charged for a service I can not use. Your company even charged me a "COVID fee". I'm done.

I was assured that I could cancel at anytime without owing anything. I told the representative that because of the current pandemic I didn't want to get into anything I couldn't get out of and he assured me that there was no commitment.
