I got a collection notice for $34.00 from ****************** at ******************** Mt. Laurel NJ *******. For a subscription to Fly Fisherman magazine which I have not renewed. I called customer service at Fly Fisherman and they said that I sent in an insert for a subscription, which I did not. They said that they would cancel the subscription and would notify their manager to stop the collection notice. But would not tell me how or when. Then they said they have been billing me since March to renew, but I did not renew. I also called the ********** automated system and my zip code and the *** account number did not match. This seems to be a common scam. When I told the customer service agent at Fly Fisherman that I have never had an experience like this before, she said that they are a "reputable business" Please help resolve this. ***************************** ** *** I am also lodging a complaint with the Consumer Protection department in Connecticut. Since this crosses state lines, is this also Federal?Business response

I am writing in response to customer complaint ID ********. I apologize for sending this response to your email but due to the pandemic I am working from remotely from home rather than our New York office.
As search of our database shows an order was processed in the name of customer complaint ID ********. The order in question was placed through a renewal campaign. Renewal campaigns are pre-addressed as we have the customer’s name and address on file from their prior order. The customer replied to a mail piece addressed specifically to him at the specific address.
Our company did act in good faith as the offer and the media used were valid. We had no way of knowing that the customer did not wish to renew the subscription. As is our standard business practice, the orders were processed and a series of billing efforts via 1st class mail to the address listed.The account was referred to collection only after neither payment nor notification of cancellation was received.
The account have been cleared and the customer should receive no further notices. I consider the matter closed.
Please let me know if any additional step are required.
