I have an 2003 ******** ******* and I had a transmission put into the car in April. The speedometer is now messed up and isn't programmed right and they have not put the dash back into it all the way. I paid 4500 for problems.

“The center is working to service *** *****’s ********.  The electrical/dashboard issues are being caused by a failed module that is currently unavailable due to the age of the vehicle.  The center staff is working with reputable pre-owned vendors to locate a module for the 2003 model year vehicle in hopes of getting *** ***** vehicle back on the road ASAP.”

In February I took my truck in to have my transmission repaired because it wouldn't go in reverse. When the work was complete I picked my truck up and the same day I noticed truck wasn't picking up speed or going into gear. I contacted their customer service and they said I had warranty on it and could bring it back. They also recommended I drive on the highway to make sure the transmission fluid was hot. It has now been over 2 weeks since my truck has been in their shop. They discovered the problem was I had power going into the front but the not rear. Since then I have not received any additional information about the repairs or a timeline of when it could expect to pick it back up. I've just been told by the repair person that they are swamped with work for other customers.

Customer brought in a vehicle with significant transmission problems and frozen calipers.  Customer authorized a transmission replacement with a pre-owned unit for $3264.78.  The first unit from AAMCO of South Halsteads supplier was, unfortunately, bad and later the customer was unsatisfied with the quality of the second transmission so AAMCOs area manager authorized a third transmission replacement and released the vehicle with a newly installed pre-owned transmission and new calipers for no charge to the customer.  Since the ******************** received services for no charge, AAMCOs management cannot authorize any refund or cash payments to *********************

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

My requests have not been addressed. I requested my original transmission back, the shop AAMCO Transmission on Halsted failed to return it when I requested it. The third one that was installed as you mentioned, is in worse condition than my original transmission. My car is still NOT functioning with the faulty 3rd transmission. Also, I told them to take the calipers back and replace my original ones. Again, I want my ORIGINAL transmission installed or $3,000 and you can take your parts that DON'T work back.

I had my 2014 **** ****** serviced here for a used trans. A month or 2 later my engine locks up. I bring the vehicle back to have it replaced. I was told there was a problem with the transmission as well and that it will be fixed under warranty. The first week the engine arrived and I was updated frequently on what was going on. The transmission took 3 weeks to get there. Within that time I was not updated and I found myself calling every 3 days to see what was going on. In response, all I've gotten was "we are waiting". As far as parts and delivery I understand things take a while to come in but when you're spending about 8k in a span of 4 months for a vehicle to be serviced its pretty hard not to feel lost and overwhelmed in this situation. The 3rd party that they received the parts from seems unprofessional and they didn't want to help me at all until I asked about the order that's to be at aamco. After that was said a different tone of voice and urgency was present. Finally I reached out to corporate in regards to my situation. As of currently I'm waiting on a response. I guess my complaint is the time it took and lack of communication. All in all I understand that things and parts my take some time to organize and deliver but I would like to see maybe a courtesy discount to help lower the cost. A lot of money spent on me finding ways to get back and forth from work and taking care of business within that time.

****************:  Thank you for your feedback and please accept our apology.  The current global supply chain issues have lead to a much longer and less predictable lead times when securing parts for today’s complex automobiles.   The St. Louis service center apologizes for any lack in proactive communication during your service.  They stand behind their service but have no offer of a billing adjustment due to any logistics delays.  Please accept our apology.  AAMCO Consumer Support.

I had taken my car to Aamco Transmissions of Brentwood, MO  for them to only look at my Transmission. I had just gotten my car from the car dealer ************************ who had looked at my cars transmission and the car was driving completely well and my dash board wasn't messed with. The issue is once I picked up my car from Aamco Transmission my car didn't drive the same and my seat belt light on my dashboard was pushed into the dash where you couldn't see it anymore. My vehicle is now driving sluggish and lacks power. I talked with the store manager **** about the situation 9am 3/29/2022 and he became a bit irate because I was asking, what did they do to my car. He was very unprofessional, never asked if I could bring the car back up there for them to look at it or at the least fix my seat belt light. Even though I can't prove it, I know they did something unprofessional to my transmission because it was very much drivable when I left the dealers service department.

We are in receipt of the referenced consumer complaint.  Please be advised that the consumer brought his vehicle to AAMCO of Brentwood in response to a recommendation from a dealership to replace the torque converter in his 2009 ****** ******. AAMCO Brentwood replicated a transmission shudder, identified internal transmission troubleshooting codes and recommended a full replacement of both the transmission and the torque converter.  No service  of any kind was performed to the transmission other than a visual exam, code scan and test drive.  After declining the recommended service, the consumer subsequently complained that the vehicle was performing worse than prior to his visit to AAMCO Brentwood.  AAMCO Brentwood simply provided the consumer with a courtesy transmission check at no charge to the consumer and bears absolutely no responsibility for the condition of a vehicle that was presented to it with an apparent transmission problem.  Feel free to call or write AAMCO with any questions.

Less then two years ago I had AAMCO rebuild my transmission after they diagnosed it. I was having issues with the car going into limp mode and the vehicle would not shift correctly. They recommended that it needed to be completed. I had this and a couple minor other issue completed and paid around $3500 for everything. Within a couple of weeks I continued to have the same issues and then I took it back to them three different occasions where each time the same problem arose after getting the car back. This past time they had the car from March of 21 to November of 21 and nothing was done to it. I have called their corporate center 3 times and each time they refused to investigate the issue and call me back. I have recently taken the vehicle to another shop to have the vehicle diagnosed and they came back with two separate codes and both are transmission related! Code ****** & ***** are transmission related codes. I'm out of options and need help!

According to AAMCO of Bristol PA, they rebuilt the transmission in ***************'s vehicle in July 2019 and warranted all transmission components for 18 months or 18,000 miles whichever first occurred.  At that time, the vehicle exhibited multiple transmission troubleshooting codes and AAMCO of Bristol found internal debris in the transmission pressure solenoids.  The rebuilt transmission service in July 2019 eliminated all  codes.   **** ********* contacted our company in December 2021 at which time the transmission warranty issued by AAMCO of Bristol had already expired. ****************** informed our company that he had experienced a "knock" since the original transmission service.  AAMCO of  Bristol reported that they were unable to duplicate the problem described by ****************** and that the transmission codes they previously identified had not returned.  They further reported that the rebuilt transmission operated according to specs.  We recommend that ****************** return his vehicle to AAMCO of  Bristol for a no charge evaluation, but he is not entitled to any warranty coverage at this time.
