I made an initial appt on 9/7/21 to see a doctor ******** Upon arrival I was giving a packet of forms to fill out,one of them was a financial responsibility form that stated they needed a credit card on file or to leave a deposit for my visit. I told them I did not wish to do that and I would pay my bill when I received my EOB from my ins. co. telling me what to pay. Upon several minutes of discussion back and forth they refused to see me so, I took my packet of forms and left the office as they would not see me without leaving a credit card. Today I received an invoice from them for $50 for a cancellation fee. I called the office and spoke with a ******* who reiterated that I left and I needed to pay the $50 fee I told her had they shared this policy with me when I made the appt. I would have never made the appt. telling me of their financial policy when I arrive is stupid &seems like a fraudulent and easy way to make money. I would like this fee waived and have it in writing.Business response

****** ****** scheduled a new patient appointment for 9/7/21 at 10:30 am. She was told to complete our new patient paper work from our website and bring it with her and since she has a high deductible plan, our policy is to put a credit card on file. I am including her letter & our policy about high deductibles. She didn't want to put a credit card on file or pay for the visit and get an itemized receipt. She left the office. She was charged a missed appointment fee of $50. We have since extended courtesy for that amount.

I am rejecting this response because: whereas I did receive a statement in the mail removing the $50 charge, they are lying about everything else they're stating. I was never told to go on their website to get forms, they were the ones who told me that if I did not give my credit card I could not be seen. They seem very money oriented. Again as she stated very precisely.. it was only because I have a high deductible plan, which I'm taking that people who don't have that plan do not have to leave a credit card on file. Well it's their loss because I'm a good apple and pay my bills. Very discriminating and highly insulting to only have one rule for high deductible plan patients. Just for the record, people who have high deductibles pay their bills.
