On January 29, 2023 I visited Lacey’s Beauty Box for a manicure, pedicure and waxing. As usual I had a schedule appointment with Nevaeh G******* the nail technician that I typically see every two weeks. During my visit the nail tech and myself had small talk but I was preoccupied with a personal call on my cell phone. While on the phone I was speaking with a friend of mine on speaker phone having a private conversation that I believed only the nail tech any myself could hear. After getting my nails completed Nevaeh and I moved to the front part of the building where she then proceeded to do my toes and waxing. During this time I was now off of my phone and we began conversating. As we were doing this the owner Lacey and her mother Patricia came storming into the building. No interaction was had between any of us but Nevaeh felt uncomfortable. Prior to them entering the building we did have a conversation about the owner not greeting me as a customer, me disliking the customer service, but etc. I finished up paid and left the building. Later that evening I felt like I needed to contact nail tech to be sure she was okay. I did not hear back from her until Feb. 5th. At this time she stated that our conversation was being listened to from the camera system within the salon. Lacey assumed that the conversation I was having was about while I was on the phone with my friend. The nail tech had not hardly spoken as I was preoccupied. For them to assume was 100% incorrect. That meant I had zero privacy and any personal information that was discussed is now public knowledge. Not at any point was it disclosed that we were being recorded or there was any form of a microphone in the salon. At this point I will never visit this salon again. I personally manage a financial institution and privacy is our number one responsibility as it should be in all businesses. I just find it very important that others know their personal business is not private!!

      Dear Client,

We’re very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your services at Lacey’s Beauty Box. We do have one camera pointed towards the main entrance for the safety of our clients, hair stylists, techs, and the overall safety of the shop. We are a public hair salon, and all clients should understand that our salon floor and connected nail room are not labeled as a private setting. If you would like to discuss a refund for the services provided, you are more than welcome to visit our shop during business hours.

      Thank you,
      Lacey’s Beauty Box

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      *** ****** ** ** ******** **** ****** ** * ****** ** ***** **** ** **** **** **** ** *** ********
I find this to be an excuse for what had taken place at Lacey’s Beauty Box.  It’s unacceptable to listen in on private conversations and allowing your family to do the same. I believe there is a privacy issue that needs addressed.

The employee was pressure into trying to defend a conversation that never happened.   It’s unfortunate that a great employee with amazing talent has to work in an environment such as this.

As for resolution I don’t foresee that ever happening.  The first step is accountability and that won’t take place.

The refund is not necessary as the nail technician completed her job.

      Regards,
