I requested a quote from Holland Constuction for a block wall, in the rear of the house, and a smaller paver project out front near the driveway. Steve H****** measured for the back wall project and told me he would 'throw in' the small paver project if I went forward with the back wall. * 4/26/2021 I received and accepted a $4,600.00 quote * In mid June 2021, the wall was constructed with the exception of 1 top block. He was going to stop back and finish the wall and I mistakenly paid him the 2nd half of the quoted amount. At this point, Steve H****** told me he would not have told me he would throw in the small paver job in the front, pretty much calling me a liar. * I have called and emailed Holland Construction on several occasions, in the following months, with no response until 11/14 where they were "sorry for the delay" and they were not ignoring me. Really? They were hoping to get here to finish in the next week. It is now 2 months later. It is very frustrating to deal with companies and people who are not reliable while trying to get the project completed. I am actually surprised I waited this long but I gave them all of the benefit i could. I need it finish and get him out of here.Business response

The following letter, is a response to the complaint you received Complaint ID# ********.
Our contract attached below, shows exactly what we agreed on, rebuild ‘L” shaped wall, running length 31’ X 3 block high with capping. Which we completed. While we were there, I asked the customer, if he was going to address the other side of the steps, where the wall, we were contracted for, ended. Pointing out the dirt would still be running onto his patio. It was a 5 foot section of block, I never charged them for. This is why, the ‘additional’ wall was short by one, block cap. It wasn’t in our plan & was done as an afterthought. I’m surprised he never mentioned that.
The only way, I could honestly reimburse them for the missing cap, is to charge him for that 5’ section of block & labor & give back the price of that one cap. I will get the cap to him, near the end of March or mid-April.
While we were packing up, getting ready to leave, the customer approached me, about the small paver area in front, stating he was told, it was also going to be done. When I attempted to go back to the truck & check my notes, with every intention on doing the pavers anyway, he accused me of calling him a liar. I didn’t have crushed stone for the base with me, I would not just lay in dirt.
We did tell them more than once, we would try to get there, but between Covid, bad weather & not being able to get deliveries on time, our schedule became so backed up, we had to ask, some of our customers, to reschedule for spring. I guess we could have done a better job, communicating this to the customer.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is not satisfactory but it will have to do it seems. I would have gladly paid for the last cap, had I known it was an issue, but he never mentioned that and said he would finish the job. I did appreciate their going the extra mile with the wall but not the rest. I would have believed and understood about the time situation, etc., had he been professional and contacted us about the situation or atleast responded back to us. This pretense, now, of going to do that smaller project is just that considering his demeanor at the time. As far as getting my cap by end of March to mid-April, I have heard that before.
