I signed to write and complete my book "Standing Apostolic Roots with Christian Faith Publishing. The book was released and published in June 2024. This organization assured me that they would track all sells, and that I would receive my royalties. I have not received any royalties since the release of my book. It is confirmed that numerous bookstores have my book in their stores. However, I am not receiving any money. This organization is cunningly manipulating the system, keeping what is rightfully mine. It very difficult to receive any honest and straight answers from this organization. I am in the process of having a lawyer look into this matter. I know my book is selling, they refuse to send me any updated sells reports. This organization is wicked and crooked. I will not recommend them to anyone. I need answers , resolution, what are they doing with my royalties.

Upon receiving this complaint, Christian Faith Publishing contacted and spoke with the client regarding his concerns. As stated within the legally binding agreement, we report sales on a quarter basis, and do not remit payment on earned royalties until the author has earned a minimum of $100 in royalties. Until that amount is earned, the funds will continue to roll over into the next sales quarter. This client has not met the $100 required to remit payment to him, which is why he claims we are wicked and crooked. We are simply upholding the terms of the mutual agreement in place. We are not manipulating the system as he is accusing, nor would we jeopardize our standing as a company. Within the phone call with a supervisor, the process of sales reporting, the difference between a sale being reported at the time of manufacturing opposed to a consumer sale, and a re-assurance of the legitimacy of our sales reporting was explained and offered. Should this client have further complaints or comments regarding sales he feels should be within the sales report, we will simply need proof of the sale to investigate further with the print distributor, ******. This author is encouraged to reach out to our support team via phone or email should he have further questions.

This business refuses to work with its clients. Since I couldnt get them to understand that my book isnt finished. 8 attempted to cancel my contract because I no longer wish to work with them, they started sending me threats to sell my debt even before a missed payment. Theyre so unprofessional! I just received a fifth email saying, were not going to work with you but we will sell your debt if you dont pay. Baby, sell it at this point, Ill be sure to send them these legally binding emails Ive been sending you since January.

    to me

Christian Faith Publishing is also harassing me about funds that I have over explained that I can no longer make. I am a veteran that is recently unemployed due to the hiring freeze, and I am living off a fixed income. They have refused to work with me, and they continue to email me that they will sell this debt based off a legally binding contract. They have officially made my disability worse with the stresses of my finances.

    Respectfully,

    Business Response

    Date: 03/04/2025

Christian Faith Publishing is simply attempting to fulfill the terms of the legally binding agreement, an agreement that was voluntarily signed by the client to begin the process. The financial terms of the agreement were also made available before signing and agreed upon to start the process. The harassment the client is claiming she is receiving is simply the automated notification that payments have either been missed or are due in the near future, with the information provided that the debt owed could be turned over to collections for failure of payment. The account will remain on credit hold until the client chooses to make a payment to move forward within the process,or opts to let the account expire after the 2-year term. However, the financial obligations will remain intact per the signed agreement. This client was also notified that she could make adjustments to the manuscript before we began the development process. She refused this option and later notified us she has opted to go with a different publisher while attempting to breach the mutually binding agreement. We are not refusing to work with this client to move her book forward within the process, we are simply not agreeing to her demands of canceling the contract and are unable to refund the amount paid thus far. We also do not take responsibility for worsening any medical or mental disabilities this client has, we uphold our professional relationship with this client and will continue to do so.

I regret my decision to publish using Christian Faith Publishing. The Publication Specialist I worked with was not experienced and difficult. I made several requests to speak to a manager throughout all 4 phases of **** comprehensive range of services and never talked to a manager. My book was finally published, but I continue to deal with problems. I went to my portal weeks ago and found a message saying, "Expired - Your title is currently in the expired stage. This means we have not received a renewal agreement for your book to remain in distribution. A request has been sent to retailers to remove the book from sale." I contacted *** to inquire and was told that the 24-month term renewal fee needed to be paid. I paid the fee on 2/7/25 and received an email from ************************************* saying, " I hope you are doing well. The renewal report is run once a week. I see we processed your renewal payment on Friday 2/7/25. The expired status will be updated this week." This week was almost a month ago, and the expired notice is still on my portal, the link for my book remains unavailable, and I am still waiting. I explained that I have been marketing my book using the link. The money I've spent marketing my book has been a waste of my expenses because the link is not there, nor is my book showing in my authors portal. I also had an invoice for ordering 200 books at a 60% discount removed from my portal. I have made several calls to customer service and have been told that it will take 2 to 3 weeks for everything to be fixed despite the email received stating differently. I am amazed at the unprofessionalism and inexperience I've dealt with from a Christian-based business. I was left with no other choice but to file my complaint with the BBB in hopes that CFP would repair the damage done and fully restore my book so I can market it. It's sad to have to file a complaint against a publisher that works with Christian-based authors.

    Business Response

Upon receiving this complaint, further review of this clients account was completed. The Publication Specialist assigned to work with this client was, in fact, a manager. She is a Senior Account Manager and is more than qualified to assist this author, and others, through the process, she is at the highest level of communication for a client completing the stages of the agreement. The 2-year contractual term did expire in September 2024, at that time, since no renewal agreement or payment had been received, the account was marked as expired and the beginning stages to pull the title from distribution were initiated. This client did renew in February 2025, approximately 5 months past the initial 2-year term lapse, and we must take the steps necessary to ensure the title is available for printing and purchase with the print distributor, ******. This process is not immediate, and we do not update the status of the account until the book is fully back in distribution. This is to ensure proper steps are taken and no issues arise. This client was instructed on 2/18/25 by a member of our production support staff that it could take 3-4 weeks for his account to be fully updated, this information was not included in the original complaint provided. The estimated time frame of 3-4 weeks should have come as no surprise to this client as they would have had the same process when the book was initially put on the market when distribution was enabled in August 2024. Due to the fluctuating printing and shipping costs, estimates are only available for 90 days after being created, since the estimate in question was created approximately 6 months ago,it will need to be calculated and created again. We recommend that this client reach out to our customer service line when he is ready to place a book order. As of the date of this response, the account has been updated and future book orders can be placed.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not fully resolve my complaint and I am in disagreement with several statements made by the publisher. However, I will not take further action at this time, but neither will I state/agree that my complaint has been fully resolved. The documented email I submitted as proof clearly states that my book and portal would be updated/available the same week of the dated email. I will closely monitor my account/portal on a daily basis. If I experience any additional problems including accessing my book, making my book available for purchase, receiving royalty payment from CFP for book sold, purchasing a bulk order of books at the discounted rate, and/or any other concern, I will be filing another complaint and have also been instructed how to file future complaints with other agencies.

After further investigation of this account, ********************** is happy to provide further clarification on the claims made within the complaint. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the royalties earned as this client has not surpassed the threshold stated within the signed agreement.Christian Faith Publishing pays out all royalites once the client has earned a minimum of $100 (one hundred) in royalties. This client has currently only earned $45.89 as of the date of this response. We are also unable to give a refund on the contractual amount as the terms of the agreement have been met in its entirety. There is nothing further for Christian Faith Publishing to complete on his behalf.

Christian Faith Publishing has attempted contact with this author several times regarding this complaint without success. Unfortunately, the claims that we have not been doing anything and we have either lost, disorganized, or accidentally destroyed part of the book on the clients behalf are false. The organization within the page design is just how it was presented during the editing stages of the process. We placed the text as it was approved by the author after the initial (and only) round of editing was completed. When a client misses a payment, it is in breach of contractual terms. This client agreed to 10 monthly payments of $399, and failed to do so. The missing monthly payments do require the account to go on hold where no work will be completed until payments have been made successfully. We are currently at an impasse with this client and are unable to move forward without the clients written corrections to be applied. Some corrections were provided for the page design, and then further corrections were attempted to be given over the phone, which is not allowed or accepted. We need all corrections, or written approval in order to move forward. It is not Christian Faith Publishing stalling the progress on this work, nor do we accept responsibility. Again, we can not make revisions, when additional revisions have been discussed over the phone and are needed. Should this client have additional books, she is free to seek another publisher who is able to meet her expectations. We are happy to discuss this further with the client.

Christian Faith Publishing has no issues handling the accounts of our clients and their personal work. The monthly contractual amount is $499 for 15 months, the amount of $399 was typed incorrectly within the pervious response. The financial records on the account are correct, we are not lying nor are we ashamed of the cost of the agreement. The client opted to pursue the agreement and the additional items within the agreement. We are also not making a mess of the book as the client claims. The pages she states are missing were not included within the original submission, as we are missing pages and images for the story. We cannot place images and a story if we do not have it within our possession. The original manuscript was mailed back to the client at the address we have on file with indication of the pages that are missing.Christian Faith Publishing will not assume blame for the absent pages, nor will we accept the accusation that we have deliberately sabotaged this clients work.We sympathize with the clients financial situation, however, we are simply attempting to fulfill the agreement terms that were agreed upon, and we expect the client to do the same, there are currently 4 open invoices that have not been paid thus far. Again, we are unable to move forward without the missing pages to the story in question, along with any additional changes she would like to see. Should the client choose to continue the circular argument and accusing Christian Faith Publishing of being uncaring and at fault, we will remain at an impasse and unable to move forward. We do look forward to a professional and positive path in the future.

I havent received any royalties from this company my book has been published two years now. I myself purchased a bulk of books through another company and it doesnt show on the authors portal which doesnt update. And no show of sales from customers. I myself advertised my book which pushed sales. Mostly purchased through ******. I havent received anything but complimentary copies. Nothing else that the company promised on the contract. Though they did distribute the books, published them and did the artwork. According to the website authors portal no books have sold but one month , but I can prove there were books sold beyond the day that the website shows. Because I myself purchased them from another website. Also the book doesnt sale inside of stores. Which makes it hard for books to sell. Books a million didnt have it in stores. And at one time online. Neither does ****** sell it at all. My books only sell online in general. I would like other books to be published but if youre not receiving proper advertising's and offering other ways to purchase the book other than online then what good it does to try to get other books done through this company? Update the site and distribute royalties.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/17/2025

Upon receiving this complaint, Christian Faith Publishing has attempted to reach out to the client to discuss things further with no response or return attempt. The royalties earned have not been paid as we do require additional information to issue the royalty check. We do not have the proper tax information on file for the client. This information can be completed within their Authors Portal. The sales reports come directly from our printer/distributor,******. We stand behind the moral and ethical understanding that the sales reports are not falsified, as it would not benefit any party involved, nor would ****** jeopardize their reputation. We refute the idea that we have not completed the terms of the agreement. As the client stated, we created the files which included; editing, illustrations, interior page design, and exterior cover design. We also uploaded the files to ******, ordered complimentary copies, world-wide distribution, video trailer, eBook version, webpage, and press release. All items of the contract were completed as agreed upon with the client approving each step of the process. The sales report does show copies sold, however, if the client has additional sales that she feels are not reported,we will need the sales receipts so we can open an inquiry with ****** to investigate further. The contract terms state that we guarantee digital distribution, we can not determine that the book will be sold in stores as the market is too large to guarantee shelf space for all copies printed and distributed.  The book is also available on iTunes as shown in the attachment. Had this client contacted us directly, we could have addressed these items and the process to distribute the royalties. We highly recommend the client reach out to our support team should she have further questions or concerns.

Ive been switched to different publicist 3 times now. When I call through the line for new people I get an American. The line for existing customers is in another country. They refuse to provide a user friendly shareable link to my authors webpage. I had it evaluated by a professional who provided the support team with a letter. They flat out lie when they say my website is searchable. The link defaults to another website when shared. The integrity of the link is in question. *** claimed everyone, including the professional web designer I paid for a 2nd opinion, used the link wrong. The professionalism is lacking and they will not get on phone. Its almost impossible to get anyone to reply by phone. Ive requested several times for someone to call to trouble shoot the issue, but they keep denying there is a problem. I have a 4 year degree in communication, and failure to communicate professionally by this company is *********.

Christian Faith Publishing remains concerned by the ongoing correspondence received from this client. We understand the concerns and would like to assure you that we have addressed these points thoroughly on multiple occasions.
Our team is composed of skilled and capable professionals who are fully equipped to assist our clients, regardless of their point of origin. While we understand some frustration with changes in assigned specialists, our processes ensure continuity of service, and every member of our team is qualified to support our client's needs effectively and cohesively. Regarding the link to the authors webpage, we have rigorously tested it and confirmed that it functions as intended, both on a standard computer through numerous web browsers and again through mobile means. The Safari web browser worked within each test made, even when pulling the web address from the attached letter directly. We cannot be held responsible for instances where an incorrectly copied or shared link has caused issues. The link we provided is accurate, and we have repeatedly explained its proper usage. Additionally, the claim that the link defaults to another site has been thoroughly investigated, and our findings indicate no such issue when the link is used correctly. We have also reviewed the concerns raised about communication. While we strive to accommodate requests for phone troubleshooting, we have provided comprehensive guidance through both phone and email channels to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely fashion. Our team has responded professionally and with transparency throughout this process, and we are committed to continuing to uphold our moral and ethical guidelines.

CFP leads people to believe they are experienced with publishing books but they clearly are not. The name of their company is misleading as well. The term "Christian" leads people to believe they you will honor your word. However, in my case, they did not.

Christian Faith Publishing respectfully and professionally objects to the claims made by this client. We have worked with and assisted thousands of authors through the publishing process, which proves we are not only knowledgeable but are more than experienced and qualified to work with all authors, this client included. We do honor our word,we completed each stage of the publishing process as agreed upon within the signed agreement, with the client approving each stage of the process. Christian Faith Publishing was under the impression that the client was more than pleased with the files created and was ready to move forward with the process, proving we honor our promises. We have reached out to this client to discuss things further, should she like to, she is more than welcome to reach out to our support line where we will provide further clarification should it be required.

Christian Faith Publishing has been in contact with this client regarding his concerns. The manuscript provided by the client was reviewed by our editing team and then sent back to the author for review. It was at that time that the author had the chance to review and either request additional changes, reject recommended changes or approve of the file. The client did approve of the edit after two rounds of editing before moving into the page design stage of the process. The client then again had the opportunity to review and approve of the created file, both the design and the content within. He went through 5 additional rounds of page design before ultimately approving. Christian Faith Publishing was under the impression that the client was fully happy with the files created before moving into the printing stage of the process. It was after the client received the complimentary copies that he requested additional changes to be made. It was stated that since we received his approval during each stage of the process, a small fee was needed to make the requested changes and re-upload the modified file to the printer/distributor. The client then opted to contact his bank and complete a dispute on the monthly installment payment. Until the payment matter is resolved by the client, we are unable to move forward or apply any additional changes to the author's files as we are attempting to uphold our terms of the agreement, as well as, the client who signed the legally binding agreement. Should the author like to move forward, we will gladly discuss the steps needed to do so.

I have read I don't agree with their explanation the reason of send me 5 did times is because they keep making the same mistakes the corrections are based in not doing it right not only that but also the picture I am not happy with it they are reaching the contract I spoke with the supervisor and refuse to do something about it unless I pay more money they quit communicate since October 15 2024 I also question the color of the pages with suppose to be white not yellow so there are many issues with the book not just the corrections I pay so far around 3400 dla and nothing to be done they refuse to do it thanks

Christian Faith Publishing has reviewed the corrections provided by the client, and there was one error that was not addressed at the time of it being submitted by the client. It was later addressed and corrected as requested. All other changes were corrected at the time of them being requested. There were not multiple mistakes as insinuated by the client. The image referenced was placed as-is within the page design. We do not alter client provided photos. The client would need to provide a higher quality photo for placement if he is unhappy with how it has printed within the physical copy. The standard color for paper with for a book with a black and white interior is cream, which is what was provided to the client. We are more than willing to update this should the author opt to move forward with revisions. Christian Faith Publishing is not breaching the contract, the opposite, we are attempting to withhold the terms of the agreement, it is the client who has opted to not fulfill his terms and has failed to meet the financial obligations as agreed to. Communication did not cease with this client, we are simply unable to move forward with the current financial issues on the account, the client has opted to not pay and has opted to dispute payments with his bank. Until that matter is resolved on his end, we cannot move forward. This has been addressed and explained the client previously.

In a nutshell, I paid them just under $5,000 to proofread and edit my manuscript. They skimmed it once, fixing a few typos and tenses, but not close to everything. They then told me that I had three chances to proofread and edit it myself, the exact thing I paid them to do. I tried my best, and when the book came out it was full of typos (refence instead of reference for example), other typos, grammar and punctuation mistakes, etc. Not just a few, but possibly over a hundred. I found 18 myself and they charged me $150.00 more to fix it. I hired another publisher, and for less than a tenth of what Christian Faith Publishing charges they began fixing it. The few screenshots are just a sample of their work, and the photos a small sample of the mistakes in the book. I hired Christian Faith Publishing to proofread and edit my manuscript, and they did not. When I called to complain they basically told me to deal with it before rudely hanging up on me. I can provide you with full book if you like.

Christian Faith Publishing has discussed this matter with the client on several occasions with the information being provided to him each time. Our editing team completes a copy edit on the manuscript provided, we then provide the file back to the client for review and the option to request additional corrections/changes should they choose. This client went through an additional 3 rounds of changes before approving the file and moving forward to the page design stage. He then had additional opportunities to review the file and request any changes he would like to see. He then approved the file once more before we proceeded with the process. Before the final book was made available to the public, the client reviewed the files once more before moving into production and again after the complimentary copies were delivered as promised.  His approvals during each stage were our indication that he was satisfied with the files as they were, and we were working in good faith that he was ready to move forward. We were not aware of his complaints until it was brought to our attention after the book was made available to the public. It was at that time that he stated another publisher found issues within the file. Unfortunately, the client failed to provide examples of the issues found, and we are uncertain of the file provided to the 3rd party as we were not directly involved with that situation. The screenshots provided in the complaint are vague and do not indicate the issues stated. A member of the supervisory staff did reach out to this client when the issues were brought to our attention and the client opted to use profanity instead of having a professional conversation. The staff member opted to end the call to avoid the circular conversation and disrespect. The client opted to sign waivers for the remaining steps of the process and not complete the items outlined within the signed agreement. With the client approving each step of the process, not providing the requested information regarding the issues found, and signing waivers to not complete the remaining items, there is nothing further Christian Faith Publishing is able to assist with.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Untrue.  The, in their website, it says "A key component toward your books success is a thorough proofreading and editing process.  This ensures that your readers remain engaged by not diverting their attention with grammatical errors and plot inconsistencies.  Our professional editors will make sure your writing is up to the standards you and your audience deserve," and that was not fulfilled.  The final was full of typos, bad grammar, and bad punctuation, all things that the business says that they will correct in the editing process.  They edited it once, than told me I had THREE chances to then proofread and edit it myself.  I paid them to do this, and they did not.  If I was able to proofread and edit myself I wouldn't need them.  They called, I called back with my concerns, and they told me that the typos and errors didn't exist then hung up on me.  I paid for professional proofreading and editing and the did NOT provide that.  It said refence instead of reference for example.  When I asked them about this they changed me extra to fix what they didn't.  They lie, cheat, and charge literally ten times more than other publishers who actually do proofread and edit, which in their answer the business did in fact acknowledge that they are aware of that, their mistakes being in the hundreds, yet they still refuse to acknowledge that they did not, as they said, "A key component toward your books success is a thorough proofreading and editing process.  This ensures that your readers remain engaged by not diverting their attention with grammatical errors and plot inconsistencies.  Our professional editors will make sure your writing is up to the standards you and your audience deserve.". Yeah, I brought up a few instances of a character misidentification.  They told me that they saw that but didn't correct because that isn't what they do.  They did not make sure that the writing was up to the standards that me and my audience deserves.  I can show you 100 pages of screenshots if they need proof of their ineptness.  Bottom line is, I paid for professional proofreading and editing and Christian Faith Publishing did NOT deliver.  Not even close.

Christian Faith Publishing does not and will not agree with the statements made within this response. The claims that the editing process stated within our agreement was not fulfilled are false. The editing completed on the original manuscript provided resulted in over ***** corrections to the approximate word count of ******. Once these corrections were applied, the author then had the chance to review and either approve of the updated document or could provide additional corrections they would like to see applied. It was at that time that the client provided content changes to Christian Faith Publishing, including the character misidentification, which does not fall within the scope of the editing completed on their behalf. It was after the files had already been approved by the client and provided to the printer/distributor, did the client find additional changes they wanted applied. Of those corrections, all but one was considered a content change. We have consistently asked this client to provide additional spelling and/or punctuation errors missed by our team, and the only change provided is the same one listed above refence instead of reference. He has simply refused to provide the additional hundreds of errors found by newly hired editing team and continues to send screenshots with no identifying marks or instances.Without knowing the editing style completed at this time, we are unable to compare the file provided by Christian Faith Publishing to the new file provided by the third-party reviewer.
