On December 10, 2021, I had my furnace serviced by Affordable Fuels. Two technicians named *** and ***** serviced the furnace. They arrived to my house around 2:00 pm. It took a little over an hour and a half to service the furnace. They left a little after 3:30 pm. ***** handed me the bill, which was $197.00. He had told me that my furnace looked good to him, there was just a small part (an auto air bleeder) that needed fixed, but other than that, he didn't expect anything further to need fixed in the fore-see-able future. I gave him a check for the service, and then he and *** left. Around 4:05 pm, I went down to my wash room to start some laundry. There was a strong smell of oil fuel in my basement and washroom. I noticed that there was a big pool of oil seeping out of my furnace room. I also noticed a bed sheet, hand towel, and wash cloth that were not mine around the furnace. They were covered in heating oil. I immediately called Affordable Fuels around 4:10 pm. I spoke to a woman that told me that she was the answering service because Affordable Fuels had closed at 4:00 pm. I told her that I had an emergency that was caused by the two technicians that were here that serviced the furnace. He ended up installing the pump, harness, and a coupler. He charged me for those parts and for the labor. The bill totaled $230.00. I wrote him a check for that amount. I told him that he was supposed to just fix the part that was ruined by the other two technicians. He informed my boyfriend and I that the it looked like the pump and filter had not been serviced in a while and that the pump had some gunk inside that should have been removed when serviced, but it didn't appear that it was. He said that he wasn't charging me for Friday and Saturday night, but he was charging me for the pump and the labor for that night. But I felt and still feel like *** and ***** screwed something up, didn't complete the maintenance as requested, and then I got charged for fixing their mistake
