I feel that , as a Medicare patient, my financial responsibility was misrepresented by the business office employee. I was assured that my copay would be minimal, and then was told that I had not submitted the proper documentation for my services.Business response

This person came to our office stating she had a PA Medicare plan, which usually has a low copay. She lied to us and actually had a commercial Medicare plan which had a $40 copy. She knew she had a $40 copay. She came to us knowing this and lied to see if we would reduce a legal copay charged by her insurance. I told her to verify this with her insurance company. She also signed numerous forms stating it is her responsibility to know her copay and pay anything the insurance says is her responsibility. When she was told she had to pay the $40, she wanted me to reduce it which I can't do. She became very mean and upset with me. Stating I lied to her and called me numerous bad names. When you come to our practice you are told we can only give you estimates and you must contact your insurance, we never guarantee anything. She heard what she wanted to hear.
