On 11/30/2023 I took my car to this shop that was recommended to me by another car shop. I was experiencing squeaking noises from my brakes and I needed an alignment alone with a squeaking noise I was hearing in the front of my car. The technician test drove the car and said he didn’t hear squeaking coming from the brakes and how they were fine, but my brother and my self would hear it. The technician went to take my tires off and broke a lug nut. The guy who works in the store said “how this always happens, and whoever put the tires on tightened them to tight and they didn’t do it right”. I was never having issues with any of my tires rather the person made the tires right or not. I wanted to take me car and leave but the guy in the store told me he wouldn’t recommend me drive my car and how it was bad. I spoke with other people and I could have easily drove my car home.. So now I have their loaner car and they’re fixing my car. I don’t believe I should have to pay for something that their technicians broke. I took my car there and nothing was wrong with my car meaning the lug nut wasn’t broke. The technician broke the lug nut and instead of admitting their mistake their giving me the running around and how this always happens. I don’t want to pay the $1,008 or I feel that I should be reimbursed what they broke the money for that. I’m a female and they played on that. I don’t know anything about cars. I went there for 3 minor issues and leave out with a big bill. I’m not at fault for something their technician broke trying to get my tire off. I called the shop and be broke everything down to me what they did but to fix a lug nut it’s not expensive at all. I need help and answers.

*****, we are sorry you felt like we "got one over on you." Our goal at Lenhart's Service Center is to provide quality, honest auto repair at a fair price. We take pride in our transparency to our clients during the repair process and aim to treat every client like family.

As explained by both our Service Manager and myself, the broken lug nut studs were due to the negligence or mistake of another repair facility by over torqueing your lug nuts or cross threading. When you made your appointment, you mentioned that another shop had installed brakes on your vehicle recently and you were hearing a noise. Our technician performed a road test of your vehicle and was unable to hear this noise. Per your request, we then performed a complete brake inspection, which requires us to remove your wheels. It was at this time that one of your lug nut studs broke, due to someone prior to your visit, over torqueing the lug nuts or cross threading when the last person installed your wheels. At this point, we then gave you a complete report regarding the condition of the brakes and explained to you about the lug nut stud. We also explained that the hub bearing needed to be replaced to correct the issue due to the design of your Honda. We provided an estimate for the proper repairs at which point you gave us authorization to complete those repairs. You had asked if you could drive the vehicle with the broken lug stud. We explained that we do not recommend that as it is a safety issue and fails Pennsylvania state safety inspection.

We wish you the best and hope you find a repair shop that meets your needs.
