Years, literally years, I have been trying to get spouse benefits. My husband spoke to them December 2021 about his active disability claim, when we found out that me and my son could get benefits. We were very behind because lived years on my pt, $12 a day job, waiting for his benefits to go through. When his did, covid happened a year or so later so I lost my job. Yes, we had income but we were so behind, we had to catch up with his settlement, and pay the lawyers, then support our child, me, pay back loans from everyone who helped... All the usual. So, I did a phone appointment soon after that December phone call, to start the app for my son and I. My sons went through fine but they told me I had to be married a year to be eligible. I swear i read the year rule doesn't apply when sharing a kid. They knew we were married because they had my certificate when changing my name. November 2022 would be a year. So I waited a full year just to be told in March 2023 that "an app for you should take a month or two, max.. its beens a year? Well, we cant do anything. U have to wait" , ive waited weeks for appointments, for them to tell me that call is only to make another appointment... Once, a rep told me " no benefits exist until your 62". Ok, because all the 62 year olds who share kids? One rep out of about 20 read what I did, " the year rule doesn't apply ". I emailed them just to be told that their one email address is only for site comments. Finally, March 15 2023, the first rep unpended my case and put it through. Now, its stuck in a payment processing center, probably being double and triple checked because they have to retroactive payments.....back till December 2021. Like the rules none of their employees know. They can train them by reading their site. I know all the eligibility by now. Today is May 17 2023 and just yesterday a rep emailed the office payment is stuck with to see whats happening. Meanwhile, debtors are about to repelling from my roof
