On 2/20/19 I emailed the tax company and audit from the IRS for my 2018 tax year. I was told the issue would be resolved. On 2/20/20 I received notification of the same delinquent taxes. I again emailed the notices and was told it would be taken care of. I called numerous times to follow up and was told a package was sent to the IRS containing the documents that were never received (W-2). July 2021 I received notification from the IRS that my wages as well as my husbands would be garnished to satisfy the 2018 delinquent taxes. I have called multiple times at various hours of the day requesting assistance I was told the tax preparer would be on vacation for two months and I would receive a call from the manager that has never happened. I continued to call, I have left multiple voicemails and sent emails all of which have gone unanswered. I paid for a service that guarantees audit protection and they have failed on every level. I want a full refund to include my garnished wages.

      Hi ****,

My apologies as I haven't seen any emails regarding this matter, but I would be happy to reply to it.

On 2/20/19 we rec'd the notice from PA Dept of Revenue (not the IRS) from the taxpayer requesting that husbands W2 for 2018 verifying the amount of state taxes paid be sent in to the state for verification or there would be a resulting amount due for unpaid taxes.  The W2 for 2018 was forwarded to the state and no further communication was received by our office from the state the taxpayer regarding the matter.  This is usually what happens once a matter is resolved by the state of PA.  The taxpayer then rec'd another notice in Feb of 2020 to which we replied again with the requested information to PA and again didn't hear back from the state of the taxpayer until  July of 2021.  At that time the taxpayers had received notice that the state of PA was going to garnish wage income to pay the tax liability for 2018.   Our office was in contact once that was brought to our attention and we attempted to resolve for the client.  Unfortunately due to COVID the state offices have been partially staffed at best even as of today you cant just show up and have an issue resolved because of staffing and COVID restrictions.

Id be happy to forward you all the emails back and forth between my staff and the taxpayer along with text messages sent to and from my tax professional who prepared the return correctly the first time and was trying to assist the taxpayers even after the husband left her a hostile inaccurate voicemail which I would be happy to send as well.   What the clients paid for was tax preparation, and we do offer a money back guarantee along with free assistance for notices etc.    There is no audit protection that is sold or available through our office as audits are a random thing and would be something the IRS probably would frown upon us or anyone doing.

Her complaint has the wrong taxing agency, it wasn't the IRS it was the state of PA,  it wasn't a mistake we made, the state was merely asking for verification of the husbands W2 which we repeatedly provided, we also sent the info to a tax attorney friend of mine to see if he or one of his associates can get the PA Dept of Revenue to reconsider and correct their position on the garnishing of wages since the tax was paid on the w2 he got from his employer, the state of PA.  Id gladly refund their fee and I believe my tax pro has probably even mentioned that to them at some point, but under no circumstances will we be reimbursing them for taxes garnished from his check because PA decided to verify that it as an employer withheld and reported the correct information on the w2.

Seems to me that the taxpayers issue is with his employer and the PA Dept of Revenue

Thank you for the opportunity to reply.
