The sale occurred on 09/30/2021. My wife and I took our preapproval from this dealers bank which had an 8.99% apr and a finance amt of 26,600.00 with 2000.00 down. We ended up paying 4000.00 cash and a post dated check for 3000.00 down and they increased the apr to 18.99% and ended up still trying to finance $37,000.00 after a 7k down payment. They said all was good we received a pink slip and a license plate and we drove home. 2 weeks later they want us to come back in and sign different papers with a different bank. Finally yesterday they decided to repossess the vehicle at 13.15 on 10/19/2021. When I went to the dealership they told me my down payment was forfeited they were keeping it and the car and I never had any financing which I find odd since we had a welcome call with the bank. Unless of course they are in on the scam. Also while at the dealership I was accused of a felony. The finance manager and sales manager accused my wife and I of using “multiple social security number

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
The business never lost contact with either of us and there were never multiple ssn’s used the second ssn is our daughter who is a minor and is mistakingly linked to my wife’s name which is also incorrect on the form. *** is her 1 st husbands last name. Her current last name is ******* and has been since it was legally changed by marriage in 2001. The bank had fully approved this deal prior to Oct 19 because my wife completed the welcome and approval call with ******** *********. Also we were contacted by ******** ********* for a dealer experience survey prior to Oct 19. We had both spoke with the FI and I was preparing to make the first payment when the car was stolen by the dealer. The matter of the Ssn could have been cleared up when the question first arose had someone there had the decency to say something rather than steal peoples money and accuse them of fraud and felonious behavior. We are only requesting the refund of our down payment as the dealer has no right to keep this money which was paid in cash and keep the vehicle. This is not a condition written anywhere on any document. They therefore have should have to return the down payment.

      Regards,

      ******* *******
