This was my 2nd time bringing my daughter here. The first time was about 3 years ago and my daughter wanted knotless braids that was one color and about waist length. She quoted me a price over the phone but changed it once we got there due to the thickness of my daughters hair. She charged over $300. We just went there again today and I scheduled the appt a few weeks ago and told her we wanted softlocs. When we arrived she said “knotless braids right?” And I said no softlocs and she said we didn’t tell her that and that she didn’t have the hair for it. I offered to go buy it and come back and she redirected the conversation to my daughter and showed her a picture of knotless braids with curls and asked her if she would like those. My daughter said “ I don’t know” and I reiterated I would go buy the hair and she asked my daughter again but this time my daughter said sure. I left and started driving to work and realized I forgot to ask the price so I went back and she was already 3 rows of braids in and she told me it was going to be $500! We have had these done before and I’ve had several friends have this style and they all agree that she is price gouging. I have no intention on returning to this place and if she wasn’t already braiding her hair and if I wouldn’t asked before she started, I would’ve left when she give me the price. Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.The encounter did not take place as the business describes. I personally called to schedule the initial appointment and I specifically said softlocs. I never said “whatever she wants” and I never suggested the hair store Two Cousin, the business suggested that store. The hair store I go to is Hair Day. The business did not tell me the price upfront and I left and realized she didn’t tell me the price so I went back and that’s when she quoted me the prince of $530. At this time she was already braiding my daughters hair so I felt like I had no choice in negotiating or leaving. Then when I came to pick up my daughter she didn’t even do the curls and then tried to add them in at the end with a different hair color and that is why my daughter declined the curls. She wasn’t even going to give me a receipt!!
