      I began the process of disputing a charge for insufficient care during a specialist appointment in February. After multiple attempts to escalate my request and get clarity, my bill was sent to a collection agency and UPMC will not provide any updates on my patient care complaint.

      Unproffesional Service needed a name brand drug due to a BRAIN INJURY ?? they want me to try 9 alternative drugs before proving Mt brand Name ( after being on the medication for 19 years) being New to this insurance. I have spent 13 days on the phone with my Dr office and their Representatives and their pharmacy . We have had a total of of 9 EXSPEDITED fax . Sent to them unpc and they have either told us they did not receive it,or it is not enough information!! I am now 14 days without medication a d filing another appeal!!! How can this benefit insurance to have me try 9 more different drugs and go threw all the side effects I have had with the three alternative drugs I have tried already ??? This is a costly and Health issue to myself and the insurance company . Guess I will have to contact an attorney before I have mental issues.and worse health issues

      I filed a grievance and their response was terrible. I learned what they really care about. It's just a scam with the doctors to make money.

      Did you happen to notice that every UPMC response to these customer complaints begins with the same lead in: Were sorry to hear you are unhappy and Were sorry to hear about your experience?Was it AI that responded? Get personal with us! We are people. Our lives, healthcare, and finances are core personal matters that deserve more than a scripted, automated response.

      I personally dislike this insurance / doctors through this insurance, and is switching at the beginning of the year. Started with first finding out I was pregnant through other problems. Could have been a kidney stone, a kidney infection, ectopic pregnancy, but Def. a UTI.. Couldn't even schedule anything with an OBGYN until I went to the ER at around 4w pregnant.. Do have a stone. NO clue what is going on with it still haven't mentioned anything about it in the 5 months I found out about it. Was told to go back to the ER for blood work and spent 3 hours trying to figure out why the doctor said to come back to the ER when I shouldn't have gone there.. At my 4m appointment found out something was wrong with my liver, now kidneys but couldn't bother to tell me at any of my other appointments.. still no clue about the stone or anything else. Having terrible pain through this pregnancy/ fatigue and all they can tell me is to "Take a nap" or "Drink plenty of water" Even after saying I drink over 120oz of water already a day. Delivering my daughter was a nightmare 9 years ago. Doctor delivering said "Can you try to hurry up I have other babies to deliver tonight" and also "Can you stop screaming you're scaring all the other patients" along with rude nurses, telling me I need to quit throwing up during delivery.. Like I Had a choice.... Rushed for an emergency C section only to get told by the doctor "I told them to get you down here not prep you" and after screaming "What's going on" cause why would they tell you anything again... Finally told me after 30 mins that the baby's heart rate dropped.. didn't have the C section. Insurance covers some but not a lot, but paying a lot for insurance you would think it would cover a good majority NOPE! So happy to be switching in the beginning of the year.

      $600/mo and I still need to shell out $1200 plus for a CPAP. Can't wait to learn what I'll be bent over for, for maintenance once I 'own' the equipment. Over $7k a year and my my bills are still ridiculous. And help in personalizing a plan. 7 plus years. I'll be shopping for a new provider next year.

      My partner was never notified that his blood sugar sensors were being cancelled/denied by UPMC HealthPlan. Instead, a copy from his primary physician about the cancellation without the attachments for filing an appeal was all he got. They cancelled the next prescription from his PCP, again without notice, and left him without any way to test his blood sugar. Instead he was told he needed to enroll in a medically unnecessary class (during a pandemic!) or see a UPMC Specialist instead of his PCP he has been working with for years now. Why? Because UPMC HealthPlan could charge more money. And when he called again the representative suggested that he could get a prescription for finger sticks which would .... cancel the more expensive but far superior sensor his PCP prescribed in the first place. Avoid this company if you can. They have left him without any way to test his blood sugar while going through another "preauthorization"
